Adrian Angelus Goettl

Adrian Angelus Goettl

July 18, 1943 – July 25, 2023

Adrian Angelus Goettl, 80, went to be with the Lord on July 25, 2023, while surrounded by
family. He was born July 18, 1943, to Clem and Lillian Goettl in Mankato, Minnesota. He was the
youngest of six.

Life with Adrian was full of laughter and baked goodies. He was known as the ice cream fanatic
and fixer of all things. He spent every day as ‘yes’ day. Would you like pie or cookies? Yes.

He met the love of his life in Mary Jo Dvorak, sweeping her off her feet with an invitation to
dance and eventually proposing at the Cathedral of Saint Joseph before mass. They were
married on August 14, 1971. Humor was an important part of the marriage from the beginning
as evidenced from the wedding cake falling over in transit and a dance party in the street when
the reception hall was locked.

He could never stay still, always wanting to move and travel the world. Traveling to 49 out of 50
states, in and over every ocean and sea, all over Europe to the south of New Zealand. His goofy
personality was easy to connect with and he made friends wherever he went.

He was always wanting to work with everyone, joining the Minnesota National Guard. He spent
six years before being Honorably discharged as a 1st Sargent. He worked at Kato Engineering
with the title of Field Service Engineer. His skills and personality led to numerous field jobs,
including Air Force One and international locations. He worked past retirement as companies
would request him by name. Retirement remained busy as he was an active member of the
Knights of Columbus, attended daily mass, led the rosary and participated in numerous St
Vincent de Paul organizations.

He is survived by his wife, Mary Jo; daughters, Bernadette Roche (Matt), Maria Wane (Andy); 6 grandchildren: Carson, Adrieanna, Connor, Donovan, Payton, and Madison.

Visitation: Wednesday, August 2, 2023 from 5-7pm at West Center Chapel with Vigil Service at 7PM.

Mass of Christian Burial: Thursday, August 3, 2023, 10:30AM at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church (14330 Eagle Run Drive)

In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed by the family.

To the family of Adrian Goettl,It is with sadness learning of his passing.Years ago as I first met the Goettl family at Loyola in Mankato,I remember seeing a tall lanky quiet man.To me it seemed his face reflected light. It was one of the kindness faces I have ever seen.!We left Mankato ,but years later the memorable face showed up in Omaha ,at HYVEE,,after a move to be closer to family.I recognize it right away. Both Adrian and Mary Jo were always together..She would carry on the conversation and he would stand proudly by her.He always look peaceful,,content and .happy.His face was one who really reflected his faith ,love and kindness.I am very sorry for your loss..His angelic goodness will be missed but lives on in his family.

It seems so long ago and then again like yesterday. I remember sitting behind your family at mass. And all the smiles on your faces as grand children began filling the pew. May Adrien be resting peacefully in our Lords arms. Our prayers and best wishes go to you and the family. (From St. Joseph the Worker in Mankato)

Mary Jo, I pray that you, your daughters, sons-in-law, grandchildren and the rest of your family are holding up well under the circumstances. You are all in my prayers and of course Adrian. I will be attending the funeral virtually on Thursday. I am grateful that you have made that possible. I will always remember Adrian as a devoted husband and father, and a generous man with his time. He never said no whenever I needed something fixed or looked at. I will miss Adrian for his extrem kindness.

I am so very sorry to learn of your great loss of your husband and father. I send to you all my most Heartfelt Sympathy. I have many fond memories of your family from the years you were in school. Sadly the words we want to say seldom express the thoughts that come from our heart.
