I’m so sorry to hear about Al’s passing. He and my Dad worked together and were friends for years. My Dad put Al in my path when he found out he had cancer. After my Dad passed away Al was an amazing help and support to me. I know my Dad loved telling stories with him about their IRS days-the 2 of them were quite the characters. I’m so sorry for your loss!

    Kathy and family-
I send my deepest sympathy to you.
Al was such a wonderful person as well as an honest attorney.
I enjoyed working with him when developing my will. I was very confident and
comfortable that he knew what he was doing.

The two of you were such a beautiful couple.
I know he will be missed, but he is out of any discomfort and pain he was enduring.

May God wrap His arms around you and give you all the love and peace you will need
over the coming weeks as well as the coming years.

    Take care.

I am very sorry for your loss. Al was always available to answer any questions and was a great help to the collection division for IRS. He had a great sense of humor. He always had your back. He was a great attorney and a wonderful man.

Kathy, Eric & Thomas — Rita and I were shocked and saddened to read of Al’s passing. As you know, he and I worked together in IRS Counsel’s office for over 30 years. He was a great asset and friend to the office and to me personally. He will be greatly missed by many people.

Al was a fantastic attorney and was a very down to earth person. He was great to work with and taught all of us many lessons about how to develop cases that could win in court. I often tell my employees stories about Al and his approach to casework. He was a wonderful person and I am richer having known him.

I was lucky enough to know Al for over 40 years. We worked together at the IRS and we have worked jointly on several cases since he went into private practice. He always brought passion and conviction to the table. Those attributes coupled with his great knowledge made him a great advocate for his clients and friends.

God bless you all and help you get through this great loss

Al was such a wonderful person. Having known him most of my working life he reminded me that life is rich and that every personal connection we make has meaning and, from Al, his laughter was an endearing creation. My sincere sympathy to his family.

My thoughts and prayers are with the family at this difficult time. I had the good fortune to have worked with Al over the years at IRS Omaha. He was a consummate professional and any success that I have enjoyed in my career is at least partially due to his patient explanation of the law. He assisted me in countless cases over the years and was never afraid to push the boundaries if it was the right thing to do. His mantra to me was always, “give me a good story that I can tell in court and I will do the rest”. As Jon Say mentioned, I am better for having known him. Rest well Al.

I only met Al three times, mainly because I was new as a neighbor. The three occasions were: knocked at his door to pick up a newspaper- he was warm and friendly; another time was to attend a steak and chicken dinner he prepared on his new super deck, he was proud of the new layout; the final occasion was after he had returned from the hospital. The Al I knew was feeling good about his recovery. Sadly, I wish we had more time.

I met Al only three times. The first ocassion was as a new neighbor coming by to pick up a mis-thrown paper.
We introduced ourselves, a friendly visit; secondly,
Al invited some neighbors to a steak and chicken dinner on his new deck, a lot of fun; the final occasion was at his home after he returned from the hospital. He was feeling real good. We talked about neighborhood issues. I am deeply saddened Al is gone. I would have cherished a friendship with him.

Al was one of the kindest and generous persons I had the privilege to know. I knew Al primarily on a professional basis; however, he was a kind and generous person both personally and professionally. He was always willing to share his vast knowlege of tax law and discuss common issues. He was a true gentleman and scholar and I will miss him. My prayers go out to his family.

    Kathy, Eric, Tom:

Your husband and father was a person with remarkable empathy and talent, perhaps displayed most fully, at least professionally, when dealing with persons in great distress.

It was my honor to work with Al on behalf of mutual clients confronted with Liberty-threatening and security-destroying circumstances. Often, they were afraid, sometimes ashamed or embarrassed, and frequently desperate.

Al’s calm voice and reassurance, and his persistent professionalism, helped stabilize their motions and get them through the most difficult times of their lives.

Your husband and father enjoyed my confidence and knew it. I worked hard to gain some of his and respected him as one of the consummate professionals of my lifetime.

Soon, but not soon enough, memories of the good Al did enjoy a broad will bring a calming to the anguish of his recent death. He was such a good person.

    Respectfully,

    Dave Domina

I was saddened to read today of Al’s passing last year, in the Augustana magazine. Al and I were classmates at Augustana, and I always appreciated his intelligence, his calm demeanor, and his cooperative tendencies. We met by chance a couple times many years later, in the federal building, where I worked also. Condolences to all his family and friends, on his early passing. It was a pleasure knowing Al.
