Alfred “Al” Siragusa

Alfred “Al” Siragusa

December 7, 1937 – July 6, 2020

Age 82.  Our dear father, brother, and grandfather made his final journey home to be with his beloved wife, Janice, daughter, Teresa, and grandson, Jude.

Al is survived by sisters, Bessie McCullough and Josie Parrett; children: Tim, Dan (Ronnie Martin), Kelly (Tom) Adams, Toni, and Patrick (Kim Vavra); grandchildren: Claire, Paul, Veronica, and Stephanie; numerous Siragusa nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as members of the Tegels family.  He is preceded in death by parents, John and Concetta; siblings: (and spouses), John (Mary), Laura (Barney), Sam (Rose), Nancy, Phil (Georgia), (Wayne), and Lucille (Jim).

Our father’s greatest gift was to teach us that a family loves each other above everything else.  Our father instilled in us a love and loyalty to family along with a Siragusa standard of card playing and storytelling.

The youngest of nine, Al was teased endlessly by his siblings but secretly enjoyed the attention.  He was proud of his military service and of his 54 years of marriage to our mother.  Dad loved fishing, being in the outdoors, bowling, playing cards, and later in life going on long car rides with Mom that would remind him of his childhood days.  He had a mischievous sense of humor and liked to make conversation with anyone he met.  His boyish curiosity never left him.

VISITATION followed by CDC guidelines: Thursday, July 9th from 5pm to 7pm, at the West Center Chapel followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, July 10th, 11am, St. James Catholic Church (4710 N. 90th St.)  INTERMENT: Calvary Cemetery with military honors by American Legion Post 1.  Memorials to the family and St. James Catholic Church.

Our deepest sympathy and love to Tim and Danny and your siblings as you grieve another profound loss. May you find comfort and peace in the strong family bonds your parents built for you in their lifetimes.

Love, and hugs at this sad time for all the Siragusa children , Kelly and family, and all extended relatives of our family. We will long remember Uncle Al’s kindness and readiness to help those in need, like my Mom. He was a good uncle, brother, and father.

I have so many fond memories of our days on Tomahawk ,sitting in our driveways after dinner. An innocent time. And who can forget scouting? And that memorable trip to Colorado? My deepest sympathy to Tim, Dan Kelly, Toni and Patrick. May all these memories be a source of comfort to you.
