Alfred H. Schuele, Jr.
December 2, 1931 – March 31, 2020
Al Schuele, 88, of Omaha, NE died Tuesday, March 31, 2020 at the Josie Harper Hospice house.
Al was born on December 2, 1931 to Alfred Sr. and Mary (Van DeWalle) Schuele in Cedar Rapids, NE, where he grew up and attended St. Anthony’s Catholic school and Cedar Rapids High School. He joined the U.S. Army and served as an infantry scout during the Korean War. After returning from Korea, he attended Creighton University in Omaha, NE, where he earned a BS in Business Administration. While attending Creighton, he worked full time as a baggage handler for United Airlines at Eppley Airfield where he met his wife, Geraldine Petersen. They were united in marriage on November 23, 1957, at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church in North Omaha.
Al worked as a stockbroker and commodities trader for several companies throughout his career in Omaha.
Al was always very active. When he wasn’t spending time with his children or grandchildren, Al enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and hunting. He was always a very thoughtful, kind, loving and devoted husband, dad, grandpa and friend. He truly thought of others first and himself second.
Al is survived by daughter, Teri (Mark) D’Agostino; daughter, Ann (Mark) Tvrdik; son, John (Mary) Schuele; son, James Schuele, all of Omaha, NE. Ten grandchildren: Katie (Andy), Lisa (Austin), Andi, Meg (Jacob), Sam, Jackie, Kathy (Tyler), Kara (John), Tom (Kaelie) and Nora. Five great-grandchildren: Oliver, Annie, Malcom, Simon and Gretchen.
Al was preceded in death by his wife, Geraldine; brothers, Paul Schuele of Cedar Rapids, NE and Richard Schuele of Columbus, OH; and sister Lucy Mahoney of Grand Island, NE.
A MEMORIAL SERVICE will be announced at a later date due to COVID-19 restrictions at this time. Memorials are suggested to Notre Dame Sisters, Open Door Mission, or those of the donor’s choice.

I am so sorry to hear of Al’s passing …he was a great man. My sincerest condolences to the family!
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you during this very difficult time. Al was such a wonderful neighbor when living on Marinda Street. He helped us in so many ways during our early married years. He was always willing to help us with different projects. Live and Hugs to all of you!!!
I was saddened to hear of Al’s passing – our families have been friends and neighbors for may years. He was kind and caring – I especially admired how he cared for Geri during her illness, Their children and grandchildren leave a wonderful legacy that will shine on forever. God Bless and comfort you all.
Thoughts and prayers go out to the entire Schuele family at the passing of Al a great Catholic Servant. On behalf of the entire St. Robert Bellarmine Usher Crews we Thank Al for his many, many years of dedicated service to our Parish as the Usher/Captain for the 9:30am Sunday Mass. Also for his many years of dedicated weekly Adoration and monthly Nocturnal Adoration, may he rest in peace in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
So very sorry to hear of his death. He and his many kindnesses will be missed by all who knew him.
Al is a good friend, He attended West Omaha Diamond Kiwanis meetings each and every week for as many years as I can remember. He enjoyed golf with the KI members, he looked forward
to bringing Marylyn to our KI dinners, he told me he appreciated his recognition for his Korean
War efforts. Just a great guy to be around. Thanks Al for the use of your truck for our garage sales. You will be missed. Tim

So sorry to hear about the loss of Al. I worked with Al for many years while he was in the financial industry and consider him a dear friend, he was a joy to work with. Our thoughts and prayers are with all of his family. God bless you all. Vi & Doug Irvin.
