Alice “Jean” (Morton) Kalina, age 89, passed away on April 29, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Jean was fearless and independent yet sensitive and incredibly compassionate. She was strong-willed and stubborn but that is what defined her. Her faith carried her. She was a long- time parishioner of St. Bernard Catholic Church. She loved children; even after eight of her own, she provided child care in her home for many years prior to her employment at Creighton Dental School. She was a devoted mother and grandmother who enjoyed dancing, gardening, and baking. She never missed a St. Patrick’s Day celebration.
Jean was preceded in death by her husband, Stanley “Chuck” Kalina; parents, Robert Morton, Lucille and Anton Zelenka; children: Michael, Charlie (Beckie), Joe (Leslie), Tony (Melora), Tom (Lisa), Theresa McAllister (Mark), Jerry (Amy), and Lisa Marshall (Andre); 18 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; many nieces, nephews and loved ones.
The family would like to thank the staff at Echo Hills Memory Care for the care and dignity given to our mom in her last years.

She was beautiful inside and out and a wonderful lady who loved her family dearly. It was a great pleasure to get to know her over the years. Now she is resting peacefully. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.
Sending heartfelt condolences and prayers to all. I remember that Mrs Kalina greeted all with a welcoming smile and kind word. She had a heart of gold and a beautiful giving spirit. The kitchen always had something cooking and the big table was ready to feed an army it seemed. So much of her sweet and funny character shines through to her children. Heaven gained a beautiful angel. Hugs.
When I picture your mother, I remember her dancing around Katie’s pool one night enjoying a family event. She loved a good life and created a fine family.
Mrs. Kalina created the warmest, most loving home I have ever been in. My heart goes out to the Kalina family. You are all in my prayers. Hers was a life well lived.

Sorry to hear Aunt Jeanne passed away. She was always lots of fun. I remember the highlights of our visits to Aunt Lou’s was when your mom and dad brought you kids over, what a blast! As time marches on your mom will always be with you in your memories and your heart.
