Allen Henry Glasnapp

GLASNAPP, Allen Henry, Aug 8, 1924 – Sep 28, 2009, age 85 of Omaha, NE. The former Ringsted, Iowa resident died at his home in Omaha. Allen was born in Yetter, Iowa to Alex and Marie Ditzel Glasnapp. Allen served in the United States Navy immediately after World War II as Shipboard Mechanic First Class. He spent 14 months in the South Pacific. In 1951 Allen married LaVaune Natterstad. They enjoyed many years together on a farm near Ringsted. They had three children, Keith, Mark and Leanne. He was a life-long member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Ringsted and held many positions of leadership in the church throughout his lifetime. Allen spent more than 80 years in Ringsted. He and his wife owned and operated Allen’s Floor Covering in Ringsted for more than 35 years. He enjoyed fishing and flying his own Beechcraft Bonanza. Allen could accomplish anything he set his mind to. At an early age he obtained a pilot’s license and flew solo from Iowa to California. He was an accomplished craftsman who designed and built many things during his life, including the home he lived in with LaVaune in Ringsted. He built a small tractor for his children, who enjoyed it for many years. Allen is survived by his wife, LaVaune; sons: Keith of Delray Beach, Florida, and Mark of Grand Rapids, Minnesota; daughter, Leanne Paetz of Omaha, Nebraska; grandchildren: Douglas of Fort Worth, Texas, Christopher of Reston, Virginia, Adam and Alex of Grand Rapids, Minnesota, and Joseph and Olivia Paetz of Omaha. He was preceded in death by his parents and by two siblings, Raymond Glasnapp and Irene Montz. SERVICES were held at the Lighthouse Chapel at Lakeside Village in Omaha on September 29th.
