Allen L. Spiker

SPIKER-Allen L., of Omaha, was born on August 4, 1950 in Valley City, North Dakota as the oldest child of Clarence and Gladys Spiker. He graduated from South High School in Fargo, North Dakota in1968. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1969 and graduated from the U.S. military Defense Language Institute, West Coast, where he studied German. He then completed military police training and served in Germany in 1970-1972. He returned home and earned a bachelor’s degree from the University of North Dakota with majors in Anthropology and German. Allen received a Fulbright Scholarship in 1976 for a year of study of German linguistics at the Albert-Ludwigs Universitaet in Freiburg, Germany. Next, he received a Master’s Degree in German from the University of North Dakota in 1978. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin Law School in 1983 and practiced law in Wisconsin, Indiana and Nebraska. Allen was preceded in death by his brother Donald. He is survived by his wife, Susanna Von Essen and his daughter Andrea Spiker, of Washington, D.C. as well by his parents and his sisters, Karen (Rick) Matzke and Debby Tysdal, all of Fargo, North Dakota. Other survivors include nephews Adam Spiker, Brett Tysdal, Sean Spiker and Riley Spiker, as well as a niece, Brianna Tysdal and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins. Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 1:00 p.m., at Kountze Memorial Lutheran Church, 2650 Farnam. Interment, Forest Lawn Memorial Park with full military honors by Benson VFW Post 2503. Memorials are suggested to Hospice House, 7415 Cedar, Omaha, NE 68124. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the West Center Chapel.
