Ellis, Althea February 14, 1918 – March 25, 2016 Bellevue, NE Althea (Kneebone) Ellis was born in Flandreau, SD on February 14, 1918 to Rueben B. Kneebone and Hazel (Anderson) Kneebone. She was the second oldest of 5 children. She graduated from Flandreau High School in 1935. She attended South Dakota State Normal School for 2 years. She was a rural school teacher for 4 years in Moody County, SD. She married Marvin G. Ellis on July 5, 1940. They had 4 children: Susan, Peggy, Mary and Debra. They were avid bridge players. They achieved the status of lifetime Master duplicate bridge players. They enjoyed traveling with family and friends. She was a member of the Mother’s Club, Toastmistress Club, and a Sunday School teacher. She was also a long time quilter. Althea was preceded in death by her parents, Rueben and Hazel Kneebone; husband, Lt. Colonel Marvin G. Ellis; daughter Peggy (Ellis) Huffman; siblings, Marvin Kneebone, Virgil Kneebone and Beverly (Kneebone) Salisbury. She is survived by her children, Susan Ellis, Mary (Jim) Mather and Debra (Jim) Kula; brother Merle Kneebone; son-in-law Gene Huffman; her grandchildren, Michael (Shannon) Huffman, Katherin Huffman and fiancé Scott Bauman, Dee Cee (Shelley) Mather, Amy Kula, and John Kula; great-grandchildren, Meaghan Huffman, Zachary Huffman and Deker Mather; special friends, Debi Marx and Angela Morris. VISITATION: Saturday, April 2, 2016, 9-11am at Bellevue Christian Church, 2409 Jackson St. with FUNERAL SERVICE following at 11am. Interment at Bellevue Cemetery.
