Amy Ruth Fleecs
July 13, 1956 – November 12, 2023
Amy Ruth (Brown) Fleecs, age 67, of Omaha, passed away November 12, 2023, at home with her family surrounding her.
Amy was a very talented quilter, DIYer and home maker. She spent her life devoting her time to her family. She had a creative spirit and loved making homemade gifts and sharing them with her friends and family. She also enjoyed traveling with her children and extended family. Amy had a contagious smile and witty comments that will forever be remembered.
She grew up on a farm in Hershey, Nebraska. She was the daughter of Tom and Ruth Brown. She often spoke of the memories made on the farm with her brothers: John, Eric, and Scot, and the hard work that she learned. She passed along her work ethic to her three children. She was so proud of them and their accomplishments. She attended Hershey High School, and then went on to play on the first Mid Plains Community College women’s basketball team. She met her husband, Steven, and married in 1981. They raised their children in Sutherland, Nebraska. After Steven’s retirement from Union Pacific Railroad, they moved to Eastern Nebraska to be closer to their children and grandchildren.
Amy always said that her greatest accomplishment was her children and her grandchildren. They were the light of her life. She leaves behind her cat, Lucy; husband, Steven; children: Matthew and wife, Rebecca, of San Antonio, Texas, Amber and husband, Brian Cross, of Menno, South Dakota, and Rachel and husband, Matthew Person, of Omaha, Nebraska; 7 grandchildren: Athena, Aurora and Titus Fleecs, Briley and Callie Cross, and Henrik and Alexander Person.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, John and David Brown; parents, Thomas and Ruth Brown; in-laws, Robert and Lila Fleecs; and her niece, Missy Blake.
FUNERAL SERVICE: Saturday, November 18, 2023, 2 p.m., at Community Covenant Church, 15770 Q St. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Rachel my heart goes out to you, Big hugs to you and your family.
It’s never easy to say goodbye to our loved ones. But so many people are praying for you now as you deal with this loss. Her obituary was beautiful and spoke a lot about your mom and wife. You have some wonderful memories and lots of photos to talk about with your children. They will remember their grandma through you. May God be with all of you now and bless each one.
My prayers and condolences . I met Amy at quilting. She was caring and loved her family.
So sorry to hear of Amy’s passing. She used to baby sit for my family. The first time she asked her mom about cleaning up and Ruth laughed and said that was continuous. She will be missed.
My thoughts and prayers are with your family. May her memories fill your hearts with love.
So sorry for your loss!
Sorry for your loss
Amy was a wonderful woman. So hardworking. An amazing chef. I loved her homemade bread. I was lucky enough to stay in her home many times, which also happened to be my childhood home I grew up in. I was always welcome. Was included in family dinners and holidays, which meant a lot to me. Her hard work ethic was instilled into her children who grew up to be amazing people. I was lucky enough to be best friends with her daughter Rachel. Rest in peace dear Amy. We all loved you.
Steve and family sorry about your loss AA
Steve,,
I just heard. I have great fond memories of growing up just down the road from Amy; she taught me how to ride a horse and was my favorite babysitter when I was younger. I know you had great years together, and I join you in missing Amy. The world is a little bit less without her in it.. Our thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
