Andrea Susan Wichert
August 11, 1940 – March 10, 2024
Andrea was born on August 11, 1940 in Omaha, Nebraska, the daughter of Herman and Elsie Huss. She was baptized at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Omaha and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and graduated in 1958.
She was the third born of four sisters, Margaret, Joan and Liz. In her younger years, Andrea was a girl scout, enjoyed taking piano lessons and playing with other kids in her neighborhood.
In 1962, she married her beloved husband, Jerry. They purchased their home together and joined Holy Cross Catholic Church. They were blessed with two daughters, Susan and Julie. Andrea often said that she felt she had known Jerry her entire life. She was very close to her family, always creating new traditions that will undoubtedly continue. Andrea loved traveling and making new memories with her family. Her favorite places to travel were Colorado, Hawaii and Branson.
She worked as a bookkeeper for the Bellevue Leader for many years. She was a faithful servant to God, strongly devoted to her Catholic faith and the Holy Rosary. She had a special love for Mary the Mother of God. She loved her Lord.
She was an extraordinary grandma and active friend to her grandchildren, as she always greatly supported their school events and life endeavors. She set a firm foundation for them as they grew up, showing them how to work hard and how to celebrate the little things.
Andrea was a hip, techy grandma, knowing the ins and outs of her iPad. She loved especially Christmas, puzzles, card games and old movies. She enjoyed knitting scarves for her daughters and grandchildren.
Andrea was a vital part of her family, the cornerstone and always the life of the party. She had a special gift of listening and cherishing the person in front of her. She is known for her sincere heart and joyful spirit.
She lived a life full of rich adventure and many laughs along the way. Although she has traveled many places in her life, her whole world was always found in her family. She is and always will be “home” for many.
