Anita E. Bladt

Anita E. Bladt

November 15, 1925 – May 17, 2022

Anita Elaine Bladt, loving wife and mother, passed away on Tuesday, May 17, 2022, at age 96. Anita was born in Omaha on November 15, 1925, to August and Emma Klauschie. Anita’s four younger siblings were Audrey, Alice, Joan, and August. On December 16, 1945, she married Francis Fred Bladt, and together they raised three children.

Anita was a good, generous, and kind woman of abiding faith who loved children. She cherished caring for her twin grandsons when they were youngsters. Their days together were filled with a wide variety of activities, including board games, building “forts” in the living room from sofa cushions and blankets, playing cards, and reading stories. The boys would be delighted when their grandmother would reenact the roles of storybook characters, and one of their favorites was “The Smart Little Mouse.” Anita also adored the granddaughter of her close friend and neighbor, welcoming the young girl whenever she visited by arranging imaginary tea parties on the front porch, playing board and card games, and bringing her to Sunday School.

Anita was active in the local church, serving as a Sunday school teacher, supporting the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League, and volunteering with Frank as high school youth group counselors. Many of her closest friendships were developed through her volunteer work with the church. For many years, this group of ladies enjoyed gathering for luncheons and playing bridge.

At age 48, she and Frank learned to snow ski, an activity the entire family enjoyed for many years. Anita and Frank delighted in ballroom dancing. She and Frank traveled widely, visiting numerous locations throughout the United States, Europe, and Latin America.

She had a gift for arts and crafts. Anita’s hobbies included ceramics, needlepoint, and an occasional free-hand sketch. The items she crafted are now family heirlooms that bring back fond memories.

We three siblings have been richly blessed to have enjoyed so many years with our mother and father, and will always cherish the family holiday gatherings, family vacations in Michigan, Hawaii, Colorado, and California, and during their later years, simply spending time with mom and dad in their home.

Anita was preceded in death by Frank, her loving husband of nearly 75 years, and her four siblings. She is survived by her children: Fran, Stan, and Jeff. Four grandchildren: Dustin, Kory, Shauna, and Andrew. One great-grandson: Gunnar.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 10, 2022, at Pacific Hills Lutheran Church at 1110 South 90th Street. A luncheon will follow the service in the church’s fellowship hall.

Memorials may be dedicated to Pacific Hills Lutheran Church Care Committee or the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League.
