Ann (Bonham) Kalal

Ann (Bonham) Kalal

May 26, 1951 – June 21, 2024

It is with deep sorrow and a profound sense of loss that we announce the passing of Ann Louise Kalal. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, loving sister, and loyal friend. Born on May 26, 1951, to Ray Oliver and Clare Bonham in Omaha, Ann soared into the heavens from Omaha on June 21, 2024, at the age of 73, after bravely battling cancer.

She is survived by her cherished husband and best friend, Wayne Kalal; with whom she shared 33 years of love and companionship. She was a truly amazing and inspirational mother to Machaela Edmonds (husband, Jason), son, Chris Fruehwald (wife Amy), son, Joe Fruehwald (wife, Amy) and stepsons, Travis Kalal (wife, Steffni) and Chad Kalal (wife ,Tara). Ann loved to spoil her grandchildren: Jack, Graham, Sarah, Charlie, Stella, Sam, Trevor, Allison, Harper and Luca. She is also survived by her loving siblings, Jim Bonham, Jean Bonham, Mike Bonham, Therese O’Doherty, Paul Bonham and Julie Tingwald. Ann was preceded in death by her parents; baby daughter, Ashley; a baby sister, Mary; and brother, Pat.

Ann will also be deeply missed by her colleagues, dear friends and customers (who she considered family) at WheatFields Eatery & Bakery, where she served loyally for 25+ years.

Ann was extremely generous, sincere and loyal. She loved her family with all her heart. Later in life, Ann and Wayne enjoyed the company of their many adoring dogs. Her greatest joys in life were her family, her dogs, and simple pleasures, like a cup of hot tea in the morning, cooking, crossword puzzles, a glass of chardonnay, and watching crime dramas.

VISITATION: Monday, July 1st from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Tuesday, July 2nd at 10:30am, St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church, 15353 Pacific.  Private Interment.  Memorials are suggested to the Nebraska Humane Society.

So very sad for your great loss… Ann was truly a beautiful woman inside and out! I always admired her while I was growing up with the Bonham clan five doors up the street! She was so funny, such a fabulous personality, also generous, caring, kind and full of life. And what a great mom! I also remember she was SO amazing and talented with her arts/crafts, sewing and decorating…. Very stylish…. I admired her craft work when Ann’s sister Julie and I were younger and best friends growing up (still great mates) …I am glad I was able to see/visit with Ann a few times since I moved back to Nebraska six years ago from Australia. My deepest condolences. Sincerely, Stephany

Ann took care of our club that meets at Wheatfields every Wednesday. She was a constant presence from my first meeting. She knew us all by name and was always bright and cheerful, making the day that much more fun. She will be sorely missed by all.
