Anne Eleanor Gould

February 3, 1924 – May 14, 2022

Anne Eleanor Gould passed away peacefully on May 14, 2022. She was preceded in death by her husband of 72 years, Donald C. Gould, and son-in-law, Michael Sorensen.  She is survived by daughters, Carol Sorensen and Nancy (Paul) Thornblad; grandchildren are Brent Ruswick (Laura Simon) of Media, Pennsylvania, Jannelle Ruswick (Nate Bartley) of Minnetonka, Minnesota, Greg (Allison) Ruswick of Omaha, Matthew (Corey) Thornblad of Arlington, Virginia, Kristin (Henry) Chen of Omaha and Shannon (William) Hailer of Omaha.  She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren.

Anne was born in Pocatello, Idaho on February 3, 1924. Her family moved to Omaha in 1936. She met Donald at Iowa State University and they were married after their graduations in 1946.

They returned to Omaha to raise their family. Anne was active in civic and social organizations where she easily developed life long friendships. She began to golf at age 65 and enjoyed traveling throughout the country. She was an award winning quilter, avid reader, and gardener with a keen interest in history and politics. She was known to enjoy an enriching conversation on any topic and was still debating politics and policies well into her last years.

Private inurnment at Omaha National Cemetery May 24, 2022. Family requests memorials to Presbyterian Church of the Cross Omaha, or charities of your choice.

The family wishes to share their deep appreciation to Brookstone Meadows Long – term Care Waters Hall staff. They became Anne’s second family.

    I’m sorry to hear of Eleanor’s death. I’m glad she was well cared for at Brookestone Meadows. She was a lovely person – we still remember her at Pacific Springs. Peace to you in these days. Pastor Sara
