Beloved husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. Born to Salvatore (Sam) Butera and Helen Butera, née LaManna. Siblings: Viola Mumaugh, Sebastiana Ebner (Nellie), Alfeo Butera (Bill), and Mary Lou Butera.
“John” is survived by daughter Patricia Ann Butera (Greg Copeland) and son John A Butera, as well as his many nephews and nieces.
He loved his parents, siblings, wife, children, family, and friends unconditionally. He took over the operation of his Father’s business, Butera & Son when Sam became ill and grew the family business by working countless hours with never a complaint. He was a wise businessman and well taught by his Father, whom he dearly loved and respected. He would often say, “My Father was the best teacher I ever had”.
John did find time to enjoy his hobbies, deep-sea fishing and gardening. He fished in many notable locations, including the Florida Keys, Santa Barbara, Portland, Oregon, and the Gulf of Mexico. As a gardener, he was prolific. One summer, he harvested over 600 tomatoes. Thank goodness for his many family members and friends who shared in the harvest.
His was a life well-lived. He will be missed and forever loved.
Possa riposare in pace.
1 Condolence
Fred & I would like to send our deepest condolences to the Butera family. Fred worked for John back in 1975 for a couple years and still fondly recalls those days. We remember John gave us a huge bottle of Mogan David wine for a Christmas present. You will be in our thoughts and prayers. Fred & Nancy (Bertagni) Wackerhagen
