Artie L. Storey

ARTIE L. STOREY, age 93, of Missouri Valley, passed away Sunday, October 17, 2010 at the Hillcrest Country Estates in Omaha, Nebraska. Artie was born May 10, 1917 on a farm near Pacific Junction to Ralph L. and Charlotte O. (Epperson) Storey. Artie moved from the farm at Pacific Junction to near Council Bluffs where he attended school at Abraham Lincoln. Artie served his country in the army during WW II. Artie worked for Omaha Tent and Awning Company as a supply clerk, he also worked for Boyer Coal Company in Omaha. Artie worked thirty six years for the CNW Railroad, retiring as yard master. Besides railroading, Artie had a Railroad Salvage at Glenwood, he operated his own roofing company and then later opened Art’s Plumbing and Heating in Missouri Valley for thirty two years. During his time in MissourI Valley, he served on the City Council from 1976 – 1978, 1986 -1989 was Mayor from 1998 – 2000, and served on the Culavin Heights Board from 1998 until 2000. Artie was a member of the American Legion, Eagles Club and the Shriners. Survivors include his wife: Darlene Storey of Council Bluffs, Iowa; son: Jim Storey and wife Delores of Richmond, Virginia; step-daughter: Vickie Cameron and significant other Gary Peterson of Louisville, Kansas; four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; brothers, Ralph Storey and wife Emily of Murray, NE., Bill Storey and wife Wendy of Council Bluffs and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation with the family will be held from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Tuesday at the Hennessey-Aman Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. In Loving Memory Of ARTIE L.
