Audrey Hein

HEIN, Audrey, Mar 7, 1917 – Feb 9, 2011. Audrey Estella Heilig, daughter of George and Pearl Heilig, was born on March 7, 1917, in Shelby County, Iowa. Audrey’s father died of the flu one year later on October 22, 1918. At this time, Audrey and her twin brother Bill, went to live with their grandparents, Enoch and Barbara Heilig, in Shelby, Iowa. Audrey attended grade school and high school also in Shelby. After graduation, Audrey went to work in Omaha, where she met her future husband, Lyle Hein. Lyle was in the service at Fort Crook during World War II. They were married, and lived on base near the main headquarters. After the war, they moved to Shelby where Lyle repaired radios for a few years, then they moved back to Omaha, and Lyle worked for Northern Natural Gas and Audrey worked as a receptionist for Dr. Smith. Audrey was preceded in death by her grandparents, parents, husband, Lyle; brother, Bill Heilig; sisters, Maxine Boardman and Genevieve Sternaman. She is survived by her sister, Nella Mae Burch; many nieces, nephews and friends. VISITATION begins Saturday, 9am, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 10am. Interment, Calvary Cemetery.
