Barbara A. Hanrahan Miller

MILLER, Barbara A. Hanrahan, “Bobbie” Apr 3, 1929 – Aug 4, 2012 Born to Raymond R. and Barbara A. Riley in Winona, MN; After a childhood move to Omaha, she attended St. John Grade School and St. John High School. On Sep 3, 1951, she married her grade school classmate, Thomas L. Hanrahan, at Creighton St. John. She was a devoted homemaker, wife and mother. During their 29-year marriage she loved the adventure of a decade living in the Washington, D.C. suburbs of Virginia. She and Tom had three children. In 1980 Tom died and Bobbie embarked on her long-treasured calling of becoming a nurse. She proudly achieved her goal of becoming a Licensed Practical Nurse in 1982. During her nursing career she met, and in 1986, married Gerald F. Miller. They enjoyed nine years together before his passing in March of 1995. Bobbie was known by her friends and family for her tenacious work ethic complemented by impeccable taste and style. She was fiercely independent and met every challenge of her life with inner strength guided by her devotion to Our Lady of Perpetual Help. She died in Kansas City, MO during a visit to meet her first great-grandchild and, at the time of her death, was surrounded by her three children and their spouses in an aura of love and tranquility at Kansas City Hospice. She is survived by her sons: T. Kevin Hanrahan (Peggi) of Fairfax, VA, Patrick T. Hanrahan of San Francisco, CA; daughter, Michaela A. Brady (Jack) of Overland Park, KS; brother, Philip R. Riley of Eau Claire, WI; sister, Mary C. Clothier (Richard) of Fort Worth, TX; grandchildren: Colleen Brown (Erick), Caroline Carroll (Brent, USAF/Korea), Christine and Caitlin Brady of Overland Park, KS; great-granddaughter, Julia Catherine Brown; many other relatives and friends. The family will receive friends Tuesday, 5pm to 7pm, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Wednesday, 10am, St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, 11802 Pacific. Interment, Calvary Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to Kansas City Hospice House.
