Barbara A. Sokolik

December 18, 1941 – March 13, 2025

Barbara Ann (Fischer) Sokolik of Omaha, NE passed away March 13, 2025.   She was born and raised in Bronx, NY.   After graduating high school, she attended college at the Fashion Institute of Technology in NYC and earned her associate’s degree with honors in Textile design in 1963.  After college, she started working full-time in her profession while living in New York.  She then was married to John Sokolik (a 20-year relationship) and had 2 children.  After moving to Omaha, NE, she worked for several different companies in home design and retail.  She worked for 15 years at Nebraska Furniture Mart as an interior designer and then retired.    In her spare time, she enjoyed caring for her pets (cats and dog), shopping, travel, gardening and listening to country music.  She was also a New York Yankees baseball fan.  She also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and family holiday gatherings.    

Preceded in death by parents, Frank and Roslyn Fischer.

Survived by children, Michael Sokolik (Shannon), Bonnie Slack (John), grandchildren, Lucas and Joseph Sokolik, brother, William Fischer (Jill).
