KUENY, Barbara Anne, Aug 20, 1962 Mar 7, 2010; age 47, Omaha, died Sunday at her home after a long courageous battle with breast cancer. Barbara was born in Sioux City, Iowa, the daughter of Richard Leo and Sally Ann Kueny. She graduated from North High School in 1980. She earned a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Northern Iowa in 1985 and a Juris Doctor from Creighton University School of Law in 1988. Barbara was engaged in the private practice of law in Omaha, Neb., for over 20 years. She was an active member of the Nebraska State Bar Association. She also served as a Judge for the Winnebago Tribe of Nebraska for six years. Barbara was proud of the pro bono legal work she did for the YWCA and Legal Aid. She received the YWCA award for her assistance in domestic violence training. Barbara was an irreplaceable force of nature, and will be dearly missed by friends and family. Barbara is survived by her parents, Richard and Sally Kueny of Sioux City; 3 sisters: Mary Beth Runge and husband Patrick, Sandra Stewart and husband Shannon, Kathleen Roe and husband Robert Jr.; 3 brothers: Mark Kueny and wife Elizabeth, Paul Kueny and wife Becky, Andy Kueny and wife Katie. Barbara was the favorite aunt to 10 nieces and nephews: Nicholas Stewart, Alec Stewart, Peter Stewart, Max Stewart, Robbie Roe, Gabrielle Roe, Tyler Kueny, Makenna Kueny, Makayla Kueny and Makira Kueny, and great aunt to Timothy Stewart. The family will receive friends Wednesday, 5pm-7pm, with VIGIL PRAYER SERVICE at 7pm at the West Center Chapel. MEMORIAL MASS Thursday, 11am, St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church. A second MEMORIAL MASS will be held Saturday, March 13th, 10:30am at St. Michael Catholic Church in Sioux City, IA. Interment at a later date at Calvary Cemetery in Sioux City, IA.
