Our loving mother, Barbara Hower, 72, of Omaha, Nebraska, passed away on February 11, 2022, surrounded by her children.

Barb was born on April 4, 1949, to Patricia and Walter Hower in Omaha, Nebraska.  She was the sixth of nine children in a large Catholic German-Irish family.  Barb attended elementary and secondary school in North Omaha, graduating from Sacred Heart High School.

Barb was a dedicated and nurturing mother who deeply loved her three children.  She had a gentle spirit and a positive attitude, which helped her persevere through many of life’s challenges.  Barb’s children will remember her cheerfulness when thinking back to the original songs she sang to them over the years.  They also have special memories of Barb’s mouth-watering apple pies and sugar cookies. Barb was deeply committed to her faith life. She attended church regularly and included her loved ones in daily prayers.

Barbara Hower was preceded in death by parents, Patricia and Walter Hower; siblings: Jacqueline Peters, Virginia Smith, and Dorothy Rush.  Barb is survived by children: Jason Seymour (Jennifer), Jeremy Seymour, and Amy Becker (Peter); grandchildren, Ben, Jack, Nick, Bryson, and Collin; siblings; Patricia Kafka, Duke Hower (Rita), Ann Marie Klavins, Rob Hower (Rita), Gina Kooser (Fred); many nieces, nephews, and good friends.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation in Barbara Hower’s name to Holy Cross Catholic Church.

Barb was my cousin, her mother and my mother (Rita) were sisters. As a child, I have fond memories of visiting Sis and Walt, and all of my cousins. My condolences to all of her family.
