I send my condolences to Dr. Munyon’s family and also to his staff and patients. He cares for my parents, Chris and Randy Yager for many years. He was a once in a life time physician, caring for the whole patient and treating them as cherished friends. A more caring physician has never walked the earth. He once told me that his mother told him no matter what you do in life do it very well. He followed her advice.

I know he adored his family and we loved hearing his stories – especially about his beloved grandchildren. Thank you all for sharing him with us. May God give you peace and strength during this time.

Very saddened to hear of Dr. Barry passing. I had the opportunity to work with him for years @ IMA, and when the practice dissolved, saw him often at the South Tower. Wonderful man and physician. He will be greatly missed.
May our Heavenly Father bestow His healing upon you and be your strength during this sadness. 🙏

My days were sad when the best physician I ever came to know and become friends with, retired. You become family when you have get-togethers and go out for meals and cherish the love and friendship that transpires between yourself and your doctor and his family. Its especially sad when you find out your friend has been taken from you and there isn’t a thing in the world you can do about it, except be there for his loved ones and help them mourn his passing, but share in the fond memories you made with him and them. You will be forever missed Dr. Barry. The love and compassion you so heavily bestowed on your family, friends and patients alike will never be matched, as far as I’m concerned, but we will all look forward to the time we meet again.

Cindy – I am so sorry that i couldn’t pay my respects to your husband Barry, as I was out of town during the services for him. Not only was Barry my doctor for a number of years; I also considered him a good friend. We were of the same political party, and Barry always enlightened me about our former president’s mental condition!! Please send my sympathy to your children and immediate family. The world will truly miss a wonderful caring doctor and a great human being. Take care

My husband and I moved to Colorado a year ago but were lifelong Omahans before that. I subscribe to the World-Herald online and was so shocked and saddened when I read of his death. I watched his service online. Dr. Munyon was my doctor since 2004. At my last visit in Feb. 2021, I learned he was retiring and he learned I was moving to Colorado. I appreciated the good care I got from him over the years and enjoyed our visits on other subjects, too, mostly Nebraska football. I will miss him. My sympathy for your loss.

  • Joris Gutowski Posted April 27, 2022 4:34 pm

Oh my goodness, I was shocked when someone I work with brought Dr Munyons passing to my attention. Was just thinking of him over Easter and hoping he was having a great retirement time with his great wife, kids, grandkids, dogs and all his friends. Knew he would be looking forward to football season. My heart has a hole in it–he was my mom and dads doc and Mark and I were so grateful he took us on too! Hope he will keep an eye on all of us and keep us out of trouble and I will keep him in my prayers. Love and prayers being sent to all who are missing this wonderful man!!!
