Barry John Rath age 60, of Woodbine, Iowa passed away on Friday, February 27, 2015 at Bergan Mercy Hospital in Omaha, Nebraska. Barry was born May 11, 1954, to Eugene and Marguerite (Bolliger) Rath in Council Bluffs, Iowa. He was raised in Missouri Valley and attended St. Pats Catholic Elementary School and later Missouri Valley High School and graduated in 1972. Barry married Josephine Neff in 1978 and the couple was blessed with three daughters and eventually four grandchildren. Barry ran the Standard Station in Missouri Valley on Highway 30 until moving to Sgt. Bluff and running the Rath Travelers Inn Motel. Four years later he and Jo moved to Cody, Wyoming and bought Hidden Creek Outfitters which he ran for five years. After that they moved back to Missouri Valley to work in the family motel business. Seven years later they moved to Woodbine, Iowa and finished raising their daughters there. Barry had a passion for hunting, motorcycling, and gardening. He also loved visiting his girls and grandkids. Barry also enjoyed watching boxing, especially heavy weights. Barry is survived his wife, Josephine Rath of Woodbine, Iowa; daughters and son in laws, Brandy and Stephen Caulfield of Manhattan, Kansas, Lacie and Todd Argotsinger of Harlan, Iowa, Kassie and Jared Beach of Chicago, Illinois; grandchildren, Darbie, Hadlie and Foxx Argotsinger and Ash Beach; mother, Marguerite Rath Prior of Missouri Valley, Iowa; brothers, Eugene II and Marge Rath of Missouri Valley, Iowa and Troy Rath of Pisgah, Iowa; nieces and nephews. Eugene Rath III, Cale Rath, Haly Rath, Kol Rath, Elijah Rath and Noah Rath and many other relatives and friends. Rosary will be held at 6:00 p.m. Tuesday and visitation will follow until 8:00 p.m. at Hennessey Funeral Home in Missouri Valley, Iowa. Following the committal service the family would like to invite everyone to a time of lunch and fellowship at St. Patricks Catholic Church in Missouri Valley, Iowa.
