Born on January 14, 1945, in Norfolk, Nebraska, to Joseph and Catherine Nave, Bernie attended St. Joseph Grade School in Pierce, Nebraska, Pierce High School, and graduated from Creighton University in 1967. Bernie served in the United State Army. After returning from service, he settled in Omaha, Nebraska, where he met Susan Horan; they were married on December 18, 1971. This marriage was blessed with two children, Benjamin and Emily. Bernie became a proud grandpa when Ben and his wife Jessica’s children, Asher and Hannah, were born. Bernie worked as a certified public accountant until his death.

Bernie was a member of Mary Our Queen Catholic Church in Omaha.  He will be especially remembered for his quick wit and distinctive sense of humor. As a family man, he coached his children’s teams in basketball, soccer, and softball. He was an avid Creighton athletics fan.

Thanks to our family and friends for their overwhelming prayers, help, and support.

Our family has known Bernie & Susan for over 30 years. We are so shocked and saddened by his passing. Bernie was not only our personal accountant but a “good” friend celebrating with us in births, graduations, weddings and deaths. His sudden death is such a shock to us. Just 10 days ago I was in his office solving the world’s problems. Our prayers are with you and your family at this most difficult time. May your memories give you comfort. Know that Bernie played such a huge roll in our family and we will miss him dearly. Gary, Jodi, Jonathan and Maureen Roberts
