Beverly Jane Kruger
September 15, 1936 – July 6, 2024
Preceded in death by husband, Robert L. Kruger, M.D.
Beverly “Bev” Jane Onsted Kruger was born on September 15, 1936, in Onsted, Michigan, to Elwyn and Kathryn Onsted. She grew up in the small town of Onsted together with her younger sister, Janet. She graduated from Onsted High School and studied bookkeeping for two years at Western Michigan University.
She was married to her husband, Robert (Bob), for nearly 60 years. They were married at St. Michael’s Episcopal Church July 6, 1957. Together, they raised three sons: Brian (Kim), Bruce (Monica) and Brad (Donna). They have been blessed with six grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Bev devoted her life to helping others. First by supporting her husband while he attended medical school and then by staying home to raise her three boys. She was always very active in the boys’ activities, serving as Cub Scout den mother, little league, running the Keystone concession stand and swimming serving as a timer and cheerleader. When the boys got older, she began volunteering in the community including at Children’s Hospital where she served as president of the Children’s Hospital Friends Board and as a member of the Board of Trustees. She was also a devoted volunteer in the Children’s Hospital gift shop, and with the Nebraska and Douglas County Republican Party, receiving volunteer of the year award in 1998.
While the boys were growing up, the family spent time each summer at Devils Lake in Michigan. She enjoyed sharing the love of boating, fishing and waterskiing with her three sons. Bev was the organizer for time spent at the cottage at Devils Lake. It was the place for Aunts, Uncles, and cousins from both sides to meet for numerous family reunions.
In later years, she and Bob moved to a lake on the outskirts of Omaha so they could share their love of fishing and boating with their grandchildren. Both Bev and Bob were actively involved as mentors with CASA of Douglas County, Nebraska and served as volunteers with the Foster Care Review Board.

I am so sorry for your loss. Beverly was such a special person to me. Over the years she always included everyone and I don’t know that I ever saw her upset. She will be sorely missed.
A dear childhood next door in Onsted was like a big sister to me. We stayed with Bob & Bev on our honeymoon 60 years ago in August and enjoyed the 3 B’s baseball. Will miss our many texts, phone calls & MI visits. RIP DEAR BEVERLY
