Blanche L. Deal December 2, 1925 ~ March 21, 2016 Bellevue, NE Blanche Lucille Deal, the youngest daughter born to Earl and Anna Van Donselaar at their farm home near Pella, Iowa, on December 2, 1925. She was raised in the Pella area and graduated from Pella High School in 1942. She attended Drake University and left in 1944 to teach the country school where she had attended. She later worked as a secretary in Des Moines, Iowa. On November 14, 1947, she married Lyle Wayne Deal of Zearing, Iowa. They lived for a time in Des Moines, then moved to the Pella area. To this union two children were born, Nancy Ann in 1950 and Steven earl in 1952. Blanche continued her studies getting her BA from Drake University in 1962. She had started teaching and continued teaching in the Pella Community Schools until she retired in 1988. She moved to Bellevue, Nebraska that fall where her daughter and family were living. Blanche became involved with the new community and joined St. James Methodist Church. She also did substitute teaching and volunteer work. She was one of the founders of the Habitat for Humanity affiliate in Bellevue and worked faithfully at it for many years. She enjoyed traveling, music, gardening, and outside activities. Her failing eyesight curbed her efforts in later years. Blanche is preceded in death by husband, Lyle Wayne in 1967, mother, Anna Vander Linden Van Donselaar in 1972, father Earl in 1978, an infant sister in 1922. She is survived by her daughter, Nancy (Howard) Roorda; son Steven Earl Deal; grandchildren Timothy (Christina), Benjamin, Joshua (Jordin) and David Deal; 5 great grandchildren; sister Ruth Fisher; niece and family in Wisconsin. VISITATION: 5-7:00 p.m., Wednesday, March 23, 2016 at Bellevue Memorial Chapel. FUNERAL SERVICE: 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016 at St. James Methodist Church, Bellevue. INTERMENT: 5:00 p.m., Thursday, March 24, 2016 at Oakwood Cemetery, Pella Iowa. In lieu of flowers, memorials to be directed by the family.
