Braydee Lockie Carlson was born in Butte, Montana on March 5, 1994 to Keith and Julie Carlson behind her brother Justin.  When she was two years old, she and her family moved to Omaha, Nebraska where she grew up.  She attended Oak Valley, Beveridge Magnet, Omaha South and graduated from Burke High School in 2015.

She started out fighting for her life with heart problems and she continued to fight for the next 24 years. Between so many trips to the hospital and countless appointments with so many different doctors, she always kept on smiling. She actually enjoyed staying at the hospital with all of the attention that came with it.  After years of genetic searching, we were so blessed to find our chromosome 1p36 deletion family.

Throughout her life, Braydee was always a busy bee.  At a very early age, she started therapy, physical and occupational.  After overcoming speech and walking difficulties, she became a regular attendee at Camp Monroe Meyer for special needs. There, she met endless amounts of friends who have been a part of her entire life.  She was always so excited to see who was going to be her “buddy.”  She enjoyed taking part of the Miss Amazing Pageant. Two main highlights from high school were being part of the Burke Rockstars and Sparkles cheerleading. Another big part of her life was being part of the Gotta Be Me choir. She always sang from her heart so everyone could hear.  She had just started attending the Milestone program and was so excited to be there.

Braydee was always a social bug and sure loved her boys. She would never hesitate to go out of her way to ask for a hug, especially with the cute boys.  She had countless amounts of boyfriends, whether they were single, taken, or even married.  She was always so curious about what the weather was going to do and what colors of outfits people had on. Boy did she love her mascots: Mickey and Minnie Mouse and all other Disney characters, but most of all her absolute favorite was Peter Pan.  Food was another thing that always seemed to be on Braydee’s mind. Some of her favorite restaurants to eat at were Red Ahhhh  (Red Lobster), Red Robin(YUMMMMM) and HER Old Chicago.

It’s amazing how one life can touch so many people with just a smile and a BIG HUG. She loved you all BIG MUCH!

Sleep well, Braydee. I love you big much! It makes me sad to know I won’t get your love notes on Facebook anymore, but I know you’re much happier where you are now and knowing whose you are! Your family loves you very much and so does your Old Chicago family, too! See you soon with a big hug, Braydee!

Braydee was such a special young lady, who touched everyone she met. She was energized and loving, and possessed an uncanny gift for accurately predicting the gender of a new baby, before you even told her you were pregnant! I always looked forward to our visits, and feel so blessed to have known her. My thoughts and prayers are with her family. Heaven will cherish her as much as we did here on earth.
