Robert Joseph Broderick, Sr. Feb 21, 1935 – Dec 16, 2015 Preceded in death by brothers, Charles and Paul. Survived by wife, Margaret A. Broderick; children: Antoinette Freilich, Robert J. Broderick, Jr. (Berna), Thomas Broderick (Laurie), Lisa Lucas (Tom), and Douglas Broderick (Mary Beth); sixteen grandchildren: Nichole, Starr, Summer, Douglas, Evan, Stephanie, Mallory, Robert, Morgan, Kevin, Nathan, Patrick, Natallie, Ashley, Amber, and Aaron; fourteen great-grandchildren: Maddie, Chase, Jalen, Drew, Delaney, Michael, Saige, Douglas, Alexander, Maggie, Eleanor, Julius, Robert IV, and Harrison; brothers, Peter Broderick (Marlin) and Daniel Broderick (Patricia); sister-in-law, Shirley Broderick. Bob married his sweetheart, Margaret Dillon, in 1955 prior to graduating from the University of Nebraska in 1956 with a degree in Civil Engineering. He began his 35 year Kiewit career in 1957. He enjoyed being a part of the best contracting organization on earth and held a great admiration and respect for Peter Kiewit, the Kiewit companies and all his colleagues. He was proud of the construction projects he worked on through the years including; the Crossroads Mall, Kiewit Plaza, Burke High School, Hilton Hotel, Ash Grove Cement Plant, The Cornhusker Hotel and the Harbor Court Hotel in Baltimore, MD. During his 80+ years, he belonged to St Patrick, Mary Our Queen, St. Agnes, Sts. Peter and Paul, and St. Vincent DePaul parishes He was a member of the Marianists at Gross Catholic High, Sokols, the Croation Cultural Center and Serra Club to name a few. He loved his family and attended as many activities of his children and grandchildren as he could during his working years and while in retirement. He did more than practice his faith, he jumped in with both feet, staying involved with his church by participating on parish councils, festival and building committees. When there was a need for adding to the facilities at Gross Catholic High School, he would step in and organize volunteers to construct the project. He was a great example of being a good steward; giving of his time, talent and treasures within the Omaha community and beyond. He was a supporter of the John Paul II Cultural Center in Washington, D.C. Bob and Margaret had a grace filled moment together when they met John Paul II in Rome. Together, they were able to pray with the Pope, kiss a saint and later rub shoulders with President Bush at the dedication of the JPII Center. He was a big Husker fan and supported them during the good years and the bad. He was thankful for and loved Margaret for their 60 years of marriage and especially the last twelve years where she was at his side every day. He also had a special place in his heart for the Brookestone Meadows staff who loved and cared for him over the last four years. The family will receive friends Monday, December 21st from 5pm to 7m, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm, all at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church, 14330 Eagle Run Dr. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL will be Tuesday, December 22nd at 10am at St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church. Entombment, Resurrection Mausoleum. Memorials are suggested to Creighton Prep, Marian High School, Mt. Michael, Skutt High School, Gross High School or St. Vincent de Paul Catholic Church.
