I was a student of Bruce’s at Creighton. As a journalism student interested in broadcasting, I was directed to Bruce where he gave me my first taste of what turned out to be my first career (in TV news). He was a demanding teacher, in the best way, and cared for all of his entrusted to his guidance. I can still recall the studio, the old (!) equipment, and his push for perfection of our projects. That aim has stayed with me and I can easily trace it back to my time learning from Bruce. The same can be said for studying films I had never heard of but grew to appreciate. Sending you my deepest sympathy and profound thanks for sharing him with me and the Creighton community for 48 impactful years. May he RIP.
Dr. Hough was a JMC teacher of mine at Creighton. I was very proud of my degree and went on to have a great career in the industry. I owe a tremendous thanks to his teachings. My condolences.
So sorry to hear about Bruce.
My heart goes out to the family of Bruce Hough. You all have my prayers. I just wanted to share that when I first started at Creighton over 28 years ago I worked with Bruce a bit in the old TV studio down in the basement of Boys Town Hospital. Later, I worked with him in the College of Arts and Sciences when he was a faithful freshman seminar advisor. Bruce always participated, wanted to help all his students, and was of great help to me when I was first learning academic advising myself. I know you all know this about him, but did not want to miss a chance to add my voice to the many, many others who were blessed by Bruce’s good heart, kind nature and great sense of humor. May God bless Bruce and bless all his family and friends with peace and comfort in this time of grief.
My sincerest condolences to Mary and all of the Hough family. Bruce was a supportive and treasured colleague at Creighton for so many years. Our offices were in the same hallway during his time in Fine and Performing Arts. We shared many laughs, lunches, and camaraderie. He has been missed since his retirement and I’m so sorry for this tremendous loss to family & friends.
Happy Father’s Day, Dad. I miss you and love you.
