Byron Gene Barnes
August 1, 1927 – August 7, 2021
Longtime member of Elks Lodge #39. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joan; parents, Jack and Vergene; brother, Richard. He is survived by his children, Jenny Nelson (Eric) and Michael Barnes (Lisa Underwood); grandsons: Robert Picard, and Jacob and Connor Barnes; brothers, Bernie and Gerry.
MEMORIAL SERVICE with Military Honors: Saturday, September 18, 2021 at 11am at the West Center Chapel. The family request that masks be worn during the Service. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Alzheimer’s Association.

Dear Jenny and Mike,
We were very sorry to hear about dear Uncle Gene. He was a gentle soul who was always smiling. I (Kay) remember him pulling quarters from our ears when we were little! I believe he was a hard worker who took good care of his family. I hope your good memories become stronger and stronger with each passing day. My mom, Mary, loved Uncle Gene, too. She would call this the end of another chapter. Please take care.

A guy who meant so much to me as a kid and adult. Certainly a hero of mine and a man who I tried to pattern my life after. Uncle Gene has gone to a better place. I am sure he was met with welcome arms. He will never be forgotten and always remembered here on this Earth as a man of honesty, love, faithfulness and trust. My heartfelt prayers for comfort and love go out to the entire family. We will all miss him but remember him forever.
