Calvin B. Peterson

Calvin B. Peterson

August 13, 1937 – June 13, 2024

Calvin was born on August 13, 1937, in Omaha, Nebraska, to Allen and Ethel Peterson.  He was the youngest of three siblings, with one sister and one brother, Joan and Ron.  Growing up, he was an incredible athlete.  He was a graduate of Technical High School where he lettered ten times in sports including football, basketball, track, and his favorite sport, baseball, where he earned all-city honors.  He also was in the Navy Air Reserves in High School.

He married his high school sweetheart, Margaret Peterson, on August 30, 1958.  Together they raised four wonderful children, two sons and two daughters.

Cal enjoyed the outdoors and loved to garden, hunt and fish.  He was an avid sports fan and especially rooted for the Kansas City Royals, Kansas City Chiefs, Lancer Hockey, and Nebraska Cornhusker football.  He enjoyed belonging to a volkswalk group, playing keno, and when he could no longer drive, playing bingo.

He was hardworking, caring, loving, and generous with his time.  He was a great example of how to bear the burden of ill health with grace and patience.  He will be deeply missed by his family and friends.

Cal was preceded in death by his son, Michael; parents, Allen and Ethel Peterson; sister, Joan Crellin; brother-in-law, Gordon Crellin.  He is survived by brother, Ronald (Jeanne) Peterson; daughters, Elizabeth (James) Johnson; Michelle (Steven) Perrotto; and son, Daniel (Dawn Dugger) Peterson; grandchildren: Michael, Richard, and Joseph Johnson; Alyssa, Benjamin, Anthony and Julia Perrotto; Kalie (Dakota Wilson) Peterson and Shaun and Gary Dugger; great-grandchildren: Amelia, Aurora and Jaxson Wilson; significant other, Patricia Infield; ex-wife, Margaret Peterson; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

The family would like to thank the staff at the Lighthouse for taking such good care of Calvin.

thoughts and condolences to the family. I was a classmate of Cal’s in grade school and at Tech High School. We played sports together and were good friends.
