_______________________________________________

Candi Jo Troia passed away peacefully with family by her side after her 15 year lung cancer battle. Candi earned the title “prize fighter” for her courageous and determined fight against stage IV lung cancer. She was known for her servant heart, always going above and beyond to help those she loved and even strangers. She took pride in caring for and spoiling her family, including her children, grandchildren, sisters and their families. She wore her Mema status with honor, fighting her battle for her grandbabies.

Not smoking a day in her life, she worked hard as an advocate for lung cancer awareness. She was proudly your “realtor for life” selling houses and talking real estate until her very last breath.  She was also proud of her 6 year dedication to the Ronald McDonald house. As a long term server at Brother Sebastian’s Steakhouse, she waited tables even near the end of her cancer battle.

Candi was given less than a year to live from doctors, but God gave her 15 years with the help of her amazing doctors at UNMC in Omaha and Mayo Hospital in Phoenix. She was able to witness her children get married and 5 more grandchildren join the family after her diagnosis. Candi did not lose her fight to cancer. She gained her place in heaven with her savior Jesus Christ. Her body is restored and her suffering is over.

Candi was born on February 27, 1956, in Omaha to Eddie and Myrna Robbins. She was a 1974 graduate of Papillion High School. She proudly wore her title as Miss La Vista in 1973.

Candi was preceded in death by her father, Eddie Robbins; mother, Myrna Robbins; brother, John Robbins; half-brother, Terry Robbins; grandparents, Ed and Clara Robbins; and grandparents, Charles and Myrtle Auwerter.

She is survived by her former husband, Joseph S. Troia; sisters, Penny (Rich) Vanecek and Stacey (Bruce) Zimmerman; daughter, Jennifer (Brett Ritchhart); son, Joseph (Jill) Troia; grandchildren: Taylor, Makenzy, Kinley, Ryker, Eliana, Deklyn, Davie, Adi and Jack; niece, Dana (Dave) Norris; and nephews, Erik Fester and Connor Zimmerman. She is also survived by numerous amazing and supportive friends.

The family would like to give a big thank you to her army of supporters and prayer warriors! You were a huge part of her journey and so appreciated.   At Candi’s request, please wear purple to her services.

My deepest condolences to Candice family & friends. I had the pleasure working with Candice at Brother Sebastian’s in the mid 80s & early 90s. Her son worked there with us as a busboy. She was one of a kind with a wonderful smile. This isn’t goodbye. It is until next time. Go rest high on that mountain. Your work here on earth is done Candice. 🙏🏻✝️❤️

Candi and I worked at Turn*Style in the early 70’s. She was a security guard and
he always had me as her wingman

Candi and I worked together at Turn*Style in the early 70’s. she was a security guard and I worked in Cosmetics. She called me her wingman and used me as a witness when she caught a shoplifter. We became lifelong friends. Candi also was a part-time bartender. My mom, step father, and husband spent WAY TOO many Saturday nights with Candi serving us. She was such a kind hearted outgoing person you always wanted to be around her. Over the years we both grew our families and our focus changed to parenting and grandparenting. We never lost touch. We had our last lunch together 3 weeks ago at Brother’s. Three hours of catching up. Candi told me she did not fear death knowing the Lord would take her when it was time. She was one of a kind and anyone who ever met her knows exactly what that means. Rest in peace dear friend. We will get another hug in someday! My condolences to the family left behind, you were her absolute everything. May God bless you in this sad time of loss.

Candi & I became good friends when she moved next door in Peculiar, Mo. We laughed, cried, celebrated, and lived life. She certainly earned her title “Prize Fighter”. I was privileged to know her, she will be missed.
To her family, I’m so sorry for your loss. I’m sure this will leave a big void in your lives, she was such a great personality & I know she loved you all so much. She was very proud of her children & grandchildren and she would do anything for you. She will be remembered fondly.

Terribly sorry to hear of Candi’s passing. Our family has known Candi since the early 70s. She was one of my sister Patti’s best friends in high school. There is one more bright , shining star in the sky, and one less shining light on earth. We loved you Candi.

My condolences to all of Candi’s amazing family. I met Candi many years ago, while her sweet mother Myrna worked with my father, Ira Trachtenbarg. Our friendship has lasted many years, be it real estate, or Brother Sebastian’s! Candi was definitely one in a zillion. Our warrior is now our guardian angel, and always in our hearts.

I’m so sorry to hear about Candi. I met Candi at the Marriott in Overland Park. My son has CMT, a muscular dystrophy. Candi was working every time we were there from Tulsa for my son’s appointments. She knew when we were coming and would have new toys for my kids who were 5 and 3 at the time. She was a huge supporter of my sweet boy and she was like a mom to me while I was away from home. She was a very special lady and I’m not sure I would have gotten through all his procedures without her. I know you all know how special she was but she meant so much to me and my family – someone you have probably never heard of. She touched so many people and I know she will be the best guardian angel. RIP, Candi, thank you for the support and you will be missed by so many. 💜💜💜

I have known Candi for many years. She loved to be apart of events, lead events, and took ownership of whatever she set her mind and heart to. Candi will be missed beyond words. Asking God to comfort the hearts of all of her family. Candi may not be here physically, but she left a piece of herself in the hearts of everyone who personally knew her. Unforgettable.

We are so sorry to hear about the lost of Candi. She was a very caring person. My family remember going over to her house on the 4th of July for a big pig roast. I think the whole town of Omaha came to it. She will be very missed. Rest in peace Candi. Sorry we will not be able to attend any of the services we will be out of town.

To all the family — Candi will be missed by a lot of family and friends. She was a candle lighter in my wedding back in 1966. My late husband Jerry was a cousin to her dad Eddie. I have many fond memories of the Robbins family and their get togethers. Be at Peace and God Bless 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
