Carl C. Cihal

CIHAL-Carl C., age 76 years, Elkhorn, NE. CIHAL-Carl Cyril. C.P.O. Carl C. Cihal, U.S.N.R. (Ret) passed away October 4, 2006 at his home in Elkhorn. “The Chief” was born July 21, 1930 in Touhy, NE. Carl graduated from Wahoo High School in 1947. He joined the U.S. Navy and served for over 39 years, including tours of active duty during Korea and the Vietnam Wars. After the Korean War he went to trade school in Kansas City to become an auto body technician. He worked at a number of body shops in Omaha until starting his own successful business, Cihal Body Shop, in Waterloo, NE. He passed on the hard work ethic, the importance of education, and most of all a love for family. Dad could fix anything and he had no vices. He is survived by one daughter, Dr’s Mary (Bill) Skog, DVM; two sons: Chuck (Patti) Cihal of Little Sioux, IA; Tim (Jennifer) Cihal of Spokane, WA; eight grandchildren: Jesse, Jason, Andrew, Angela, Laura, Hunter, Heather and Hannah; three brothers: Lad (Martha) Cihal of David City, Gerald (Kveta) Cihal of Omaha, Bill (Beth) Cihal of Omaha; two sisters: Mary Ann (Jack) McEvoy of Yutan, Theresa (Jim) Sullivan of Ventura, CA; and numerous nieces and nephews. Carl was preceded in death by his devoted wife, Claire Marie Cihal, in April of 2005. A Rosary-Vigil Service will be held Monday, October 9, at 8:00 p.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 307 E. Meigs, Valley, NE. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, October 10, at 10:00 a.m. Interment will follow at 1:00 p.m. at Calvary Cemetery in Omaha, with full military honors. Memorial contributions may be made to any Democratic candidate of your choice.
