Carl F. Carta
March 27, 1935-June 7, 2025
Carl F. Carta passed away on June 7, 2025, after a brief illness. Carl was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa, and attended St. Francis High School where he excelled in Basketball and Baseball. After his graduation, while working for the Union Pacific Railroad, he enrolled in Business School. Upon completion of Business School, he pursued management positions which took him and his family to Des Moines where he worked for several years before becoming involved in restaurant management.
Through the years, Carl owned and operated several restaurants; he also managed country clubs in Council Bluffs and Columbus, Nebraska, and the then newly opened Holiday Inn Convention Center in Norfolk, Nebraska. Carl served as Assistant Manager of the Officers Club at Offutt Air Force Base and later was promoted to Manager of the Officers Club at Patrick Air Force Base, Coco Beach, Florida, a position he thoroughly enjoyed and of which he was proud. After residing many years in Florida, he returned to the Omaha area where he operated several restaurants and enjoyed horse racing, a favorite pastime.
Carl was preceded in death by his parents, Frank and Filomena Carta; his brother, Louie Carta; and his sister, Mary Johnson.
He is survived by his beloved wife, Grace, whom he loved, admired and with whom he was married for forty years; his brother, Sal; his children: Colleen Linder, Debra Trofholz (Scott), Diane Lincoln, and Frank Carta (Dawn); ten grandchildren; thirty-two great- grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.
MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Friday, June 13, 2025, 11:00 AM with VISITATION beginning at 10:00AM at St. Leo the Great Catholic Church, 1920 N. 102nd St. Omaha, NE, 68114.
In lieu of flowers, memorials will be directed by the family.
