Preceded in death by parents, Gerald and Vera Pedersen; father-in-law and mother-in-law, Edward and Shirley Zarkowski; brothers-in-law, Paul and Edward Zarkowski, Bill Hicks; sisters-in-law, Susan and Gail Zarkowski.
Survived by husband, Richard; son, Grant (Lori); daughter, Joy Loos (Mike); grandchildren: Mitchell, Ryne, Calen, Andrew, Gabriel, and Carter; brothers, Larry Pedersen (Linda) and Lyle Pedersen (Danielle); sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law: Mary Zarkowski, Ronald (Annette) and John Zarkowski, Cheryl Hicks and Judy Killion (Jerry).
MEMORIAL SERVICE: Friday, September 21st at 11am at Rejoice Lutheran Church, 2556 S. 138th Street. Private Interment. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to Samaritan’s Purse for Children’s Christmas Boxes.

Dick, Grant, and Joy,
We are so sorry for your loss. I keep thinking of all of you since I heard of Carla’s passing. We enjoyed having your family as neighbors for several years when you two and Ken and Kyle were all very young. Am sure she enjoyed her grandchildren and they will sure miss her, too. Dear Dick, Grant, Joy, and Family, We have not been in touch for many years, but remember all of you and Carla when you attended Calvary Lutheran. We have fond memories of times spent with Carla. We are sorry to learn of her passing, and pray that you will find comfort in memories of good times you shared. May the Lord surround you with His love and peace in the coming days. We are all so very sorry for your loss, and please know that your are in our thoughts and prayers. Carol and I have found memories of our last visit in November/December of 2017 to Joy and Mike’s in Louisiana where we so enjoyed our interaction with Carla and Dick. Dick, Joy, and Grant…and other relatives: Carla was a super wife, mother, grandmother; and a good friend. She was an excellent sub who I welcomed into my classroom when I was absent. She was so proud of her family and loved talking about them. She was a sweet, kind lady who we are going to miss very much. Rest In Peace, Carla. No more pain for you as you wait to see us all again some day.
The world has lost a bright light, and heaven has gained a new angel.

We certainly remember and value our times together when we all were in Alliance. Carla’s passing was a total surprise for us. We really valued our friendship and your positive attitudes. Carla was soul of steady humanity, humble compassion, and a fount of neighborly kindnesses. As notetaker for a student who struggled with transcription, she came every day–every single day–to my sophomore British Literature class, and I loved instigating her her wry, gentle humor. Once when we were recording student book numbers, a kid kept mistaking his number and I couldn’t resist–I said, “It’s not an auction, son.” I still remember Carla’s joy at that. She always asked about me and my family during glitches like a stolen car, a new mortgage–always Carla’s richly earnest yet unobtrusive interest in people. Dick, I was lucky to even know her at all, so I would hardly presume to tally this loss for you. I am in tears typing this, and my heart is with you. And Carla, Carla, thank you for the happy decency you brought to my classroom and our school community for those good years. You are now in a place wholly lit with the same bright nature that constituted your being.
Zark and Family-
I just happened to stumble across this…..so very sorry to hear of your loss. I remember her mainly from the time she spent as a substitute teacher at Alliance during my brief time there. An obviously wonderful person and very kind!!
