Carmella F. Monzu, fondly known as Carm and Aunt Carm, was more than just a daughter, sister, and aunt. She was a beacon of love and devotion, a pillar that held her family together. Her memory is cherished by her sister, Rita Monzu; brother, Joe Monzu; brother and sister-in-law, Dave and Michele Monzu; and sister and brother-in-law, Deb and Rick Merrill. She also leaves a legacy of nieces, nephews, and great-nieces and nephews.

Carm had a multitude of passions that enriched her life. One of her enduring loves was fast-pitch softball. She played for years, even alongside her sister, Rita. Her dedication was unwavering, even after breaking an ankle in a game. This was a testament to her resilience and love for the sport, which she later found joy in coaching young girls.

Another great love of Carm’s was her cats, Pate, Maxine, and Chloe. They were not just pets but her babies; she cherished them unconditionally. She kept their memory alive by cremating Pate and Maxine, and they now rest on her mantle, a constant reminder of her love for them.

Her greatest joy came from her nieces and nephews, then great-nieces and nephews. She had no rules and could not say “No” to them. She was a fun and giving Aunt. She enjoyed babysitting, fishing, watching them play sports, and, most of all, sharing her love of Winnie the Pooh with each of them, creating cherished memories.

Carm worked with many people at Mutual of Omaha who became her friends before retiring. She was blessed to work near several cousins and even an aunt at Mutual. They may have even caused trouble together, so it’s been told. Carm enjoyed helping customers and her colleagues. She took pride in all the classes she took to do her job well, always going the extra mile to ensure her clients were taken care of.

All those blessed to have met Carm and have her in their lives will miss and remember her forever. God Bless her soul, and may she rest in peace.

We Love You, Carm, Aunt Carm!
