Carol Ann Hoffman
August 2, 1948 – December 26, 2021
Carol Ann Hoffman, 73, of Elkhorn, Nebraska, went to join her LORD at the family home after a 14-month fight with cancer on December 26, 2021. Carol left us unafraid, knowing that Our Lord was with her.
Carol was born on August 2, 1948, in Berlin, Germany to Robert and Marjorie Campbell. After many moves all over the world (her father served as a pilot in the Air Force) her family eventually settled in Omaha, Nebraska where she graduated from Benson High in 1965. Carol received a bachelor’s degree in Education from the University of Omaha in 1970. She taught middle school History in Indianapolis while acquiring her master’s degree. She moved back to Omaha in 1977 and taught for District 66. Carol married her longtime friend, Larry Hoffman, in 1978. She eventually retired from teaching in 1982 to fulfill her lifelong dream of becoming a mother and staying home to raise her three girls. Carol sat on the Elkhorn School Board for seven years. She was an active member of the Lutheran Church. Carol poured her heart into the Assistance League of Omaha and worked tirelessly to serve as many underprivileged families as she could.
Some of Carol’s favorite things were spending time with her husband, Larry Hoffman, at their winter escape in the Florida Keys, gardening, having her grandchildren over to play (which she did often), reading, creating beautiful art, sewing, hosting her friends and family at her home, working out with her mermaids, camping, serving her community through numerous projects and we can’t forget chocolate! Carol loved her family, her Lord, her friends, and her country fiercely.
She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Larry Hoffman; three daughters: Christy Hunter (Joe), Jenny Hoffman and Jackie Pappas (Jeff); seven grandchildren: Kyesun 14, Jase 9, Tyge 8, Elle 7, Mya 6, Juniper 5 and Indie 5 months; sister, Jan (Joan) Campbell; two brothers, Tom (Phyllis) and Don Campbell ; beloved dog, Buddy. She was preceded by her parents, Robert and Marjorie Campbell; brother, Russell Campbell.
A MEMORIAL AND CELEBRATION OF LIFE are planned for Saturday, January 8th at Lutheran Church of the Master West Campus, 1200 N. 181 Court, at 10am, followed by a luncheon at Indian Creek, 2825 N. 202nd. The service will be live streamed for those unable to attend. The Hoffman home has always been an Open Door policy – where kids and chaos were always welcome. The laughter and memories that our family has been fortunate to share with Carol, Larry, Christy, Jenny, Jackie and family is priceless. We were able to share the love of the ocean with them in Key West and Carol and Larry opened their arms and home for the adventure. Carol, your soul has certainly made an impact on our lives. You’ll absolutely be missed. Rest Easy.

So sorry for your loss of a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to all. We will miss Carol, forever in our hearts. RIH…Remember Me: Speak of me as you have always done, Remember the good times, laughter, and fun, Share the happy memories we’ve made. Do not let them wither or fade. I’ll be with you in the summer’s sun. And when the winter’s chill has come. I’ll be the voice that whispers in the breeze, I’m peaceful now, put your minds at ease. I’ve rested my eyes and gone to sleep, But memories we’ve shared are yours to keep. Sometimes our final days may be a test, But remember me when I was at my best. Although things may not be the same, Don’t be afraid to say my name. Let your sorrow last for just a while. Comfort each other and try to smile. I’ve lived a life filled with joy and fun. Live on now, make me proud of what you’ll become. Larry, Christy, Jackie & Jenny we love you
We will miss our dear friend Carol so much! She was the shining light and spark in every situation. So much love to spread around to everyone. Prayers for Larry and the girls and family❣️
Larry, Kim and I are heartbroken over the loss of Carol. It was so good seeing both of you at the reunion.
Carol and I have been in touch for the last five years after being absent for fifty…. it was such a great feeling and we had wonderful conversations I will always treasure, the last being December 16th as I was boarding a plane to Denver. I will miss her deeply and love you both always.
So sorry for your loss. What a GREAT lady.
Larry and Carol lived across the street from us. Early on Carol introduced our daughter to makeup. One day she invited Nicole over to play (our daughter was maybe 4 at the time). When our daughter returned she looked “gorgeous” as Carol told her; they had played makeup. That started a friendship between Carol and me, and Carol and our daughter.
Carol was a woman who loved life, who valued life, and who helped us all love life better. She will be missed by so many because she loved so many. She loved her family with her whole heart and relished having the grandkids over as much as possible, her house was always open.
I will miss you my friend, may God bless your precious family and give them comfort.
Love, Susan and Monnie
