ARMSTRONG-Caroldeen (Powell) “Carole” quietly passed away at her home in Omaha, NE, to be with the Lord on 9/26/2006. She was born on December 10, 1932 in Dunnegan, MO, to Ruth (Lilly) and Fred Albert McGaughey. Devoted wife of 56 years to Charles L. Armstrong, she will be missed by her children and their spouses: daughters and sons-in-law, Deeleen and Cliff Sawyer, Larele and Rich Costello, and son and daughter-in-law, Charles and Judy Armstrong. Also surviving are her grandchildren: Deborah Sawyer Gathman, Joshua Lee Sawyer, Charla-Carole Costello, and Harrison Costello. She lived on the farm in Union, NE for 27 years before returning to Omaha in 2005. A 1950 graduate of Benson High School, she was a member of the Union Baptist Church and the Union Women’s Club. She was preceded in death by her adoptive parents, August and Vera Lucille (McGaughey) Powell; her sister and brother, Emmajean and Marvin McGaughey; and natural parents, Fred and Ruth (Lilly) McGaughey. Services Friday, 10:00 a.m., West Center Chapel. Interment, Mount Pleasant Cemetery in Nehawka, NE. Visitation Thursday, 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the West Center Chapel. Memorials are suggested to a charity of your choice.
