In Loving Memory of An Amazing Woman

Caroline “Tiny” Rossi died in her home at Meridian Gardens in Columbus, Nebraska at the ripe old age of 93.  One of nine children, she was born on a farm near Spencer Nebraska, to John and Ruth Johnson.

Caroline was always there to fill a need—from teaching in a one-room schoolhouse, to helping with the war effort by moving from her small town to Lincoln, NE to learn the skill of tool and die drafting, to learning to fly a plane when her husband was no longer able to.  She always put the needs of others before her own.  Not surprisingly, her most treasured accomplishment was raising her five children.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Henry “Larry” Rossi; daughter, Barbara Nicholson.  She is survived by children: Pamela Harvey (Thomas), Thomas Rossi, John Rossi (Maureen), and Jennifer Hill (Greg); ten grandchildren: Jim Herckt (Deanne), Jason Herckt, Tanya Moore (Greg), Stacia Gueriguian, Briana Knight (Brad), Anthony Harvey, Laurence Rossi, Brenna Rossi, Kyle Rossi, and Isabella Hill; eight great-grandchildren.

The family will receive friends on Sunday, Dec. 17th from 5pm to 7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm.  SERVICES Monday, Dec. 18th at 11am, West Center Chapel.  Interment, Calvary Cemetery.  Memorials are suggested to Columbus Community Hospital Hospice or Alzheimer’s Association.

On behalf of all the Bertagni children-(Sue, Monsignor Ted, Nancy, Steve, Tina & Jody) we send our deepest condolences. We do remember your parents and knew immediately that it was her when I saw the picture in the newspaper. Our father (Ted) was first cousins with your Dad. When we were very young, we remember our families getting together and we would hear stories from our father about working at the garage. In 1965, our father opened up his own service station on 45th & Center inwhich, Steve still operates it to this day. We will keep you in our thoughts and prayers!
