Caroline Smock
February 26, 1934 – September 24, 2022
Caroline Smock, 88, formerly from Scottsbluff, Nebraska died suddenly on Saturday, September 24, 2022, in Omaha. Caroline was born on February 26, 1934 in Scottsbluff to George and Marie (Peil) Drumheller.
Caroline’s formative years were spent in Portland, OR and Weiser, ID. Upon adulthood she returned to the Scottsbluff area where she met and married Dale Smock on October 16, 1957, and shared a happy union for 61 years, raising two children. As a fulltime homemaker, she assisted with her husband’s well drilling business. She enjoyed bowling and golfing and through her membership in Epsilon Sigma Alpha sorority she participated in numerous philanthropic projects in the Scottsbluff area. She was a longtime member of the Calvary Lutheran Church. For years she assisted in food preparation for her sister Vi’s restaurant business. She relocated to Omaha in June 2021 to be closer to immediate family.
Her home always operated with an open door philosophy and became the friendly stopover for all family and friends alike.
She was a light to all that knew her… a sister, a mother, a grandmother, an aunt, a special friend, a neighbor… her kindness and generosity was always glowing!
Survivors include daughter, Stefani Hazlewood (husband Jay); son, Stuart Smock (wife Kim); grandchildren: Sarah Jones (husband Dillon), Megan Martinez (husband Justin), Chase Hazlewood and Julia Smock; brother, Edd (Elizabeth) Drumheller of Thornton, CO; sisters: Marleen (Bill) Blanding of Carpentersville, IL, Judy and Trudy Drumheller of Seattle, WA.
She was preceded in death by her parents; 4 brothers; 5 sisters.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for spring 2023 when she will join her husband in her final resting place at West Lawn Cemetery in Gering, NE.
