Carroll Ann Thomas

Carroll Ann Thomas

Entered into Rest February 1, 2025

Carroll Ann Thomas, a loving wife, mother, sister, aunt, nana, and friend, passed away peacefully in her home on February 1, 2025.

A devoted mother of five, Carroll pursued her passion for nursing while attending the College of Saint Mary in Omaha. Upon earning her degree, she embarked on a remarkable 40-year career at Nebraska Medicine where she served dual roles, as both a nurse and administrator. Carroll was a natural teacher and leader. Her innate ability to teach and guide young nurses, doctors, and administrators in their chosen fields made her an invaluable mentor to all who crossed her path.

Carroll cherished life, tolerated her family, and loved her friends. Throughout the years, Carroll and Keith’s house was open to all, from the children in old neighborhood to the lake kids in Okoboji. As her family grew, Carroll took pride in nurturing and guiding the young women in her family. She embraced the humor in life while imparting her wisdom through uplifting and cautionary tales in hopes her family would lead better lives.

She loved traveling, reading books, and boating. Carroll enjoyed exploring new places with her loved ones. As an avid reader she would read a book a day. Boating was one of her favorite pastimes. She found great joy in spending time on the water, while creating lasting memories with those she held dear.

Carroll embraced everything she did both right and wrong with the intention of learning from her experiences. She believed in building upon her successes and growing from her mistakes. Her philosophy was life is shaped by the choices we make, whether our choices lead to happiness or sadness, goodness or adversity. She firmly believed we alone hold the power to control our own destinies.

Do not be sad for our beloved mother, wife, sister, nana, aunt and friend as Carroll lived life to the fullest with love and happiness in her heart for all of us.

Carroll was preceded in death by her parents, Kenny and Alice (Dede) Lauritsen; and brother, Bruce Lauritsen. She is survived by husband, Keith Crowell; siblings, Boyd and Judy Lauritsen, Susan Lauritsen, Jeanne and Steven Brown, Christi and Tom Kjar; her five children, Michael Thomas, Kelly and Andy Sheard, Scott and Sheila Thomas, Billy and Lisa Thomas, Robert and Sherri Thomas; 17 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren, and 12 nieces and nephews.
