James R. Casey Casey, age 84 May 4, 1931 Nov 22, 2015 Born in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, on May 4, 1931 and passed away in Omaha, Nebraska on November 22, 2015. Loving dad, grandpa and great-grandpa. At a young age Casey developed a passion for flying airplanes from his father. With both a private license and an instructors license, Casey gave flying lessons for many years. He loved to cook. A Boy Scout Master and a Little League Coach, he enjoyed being outdoors and liked to fish. Most important, he loved spending time with his family, and he enjoyed traveling with his beloved wife, Berniece, before her passing in February of 1996. Following high school in Minneapolis, Casey served eight years in the U.S. Navy as an Aviation Machinist Mate 2nd Class. Subsequently, he became a Lead Mechanic for United Air Lines for forty-five years. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus, American Legion, and VFW Post 1581. As a parishioner at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church, he served as usher, money counter, Senior Acolyte for funerals and Eucharistic Minister (EME). Casey was preceded in death by his wife, Berniece A. (Hangley) Casey; daughter, Donna M. Kuenzli; granddaughter, Laura M. Hemphill. He is survived by daughters: Shirley Majest (Bud), Janice Terry (Ken), Diane Acosta, Sandra Stageman (Dr. James), and Bobbie Mitchell (Rob); son, Steven Hangley (Stacia); fifteen grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; three great-great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Fran Dye and Midge Courtright. The family will receive friends Tuesday, November 24th, from 5pm to 7pm, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm, all at the West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL Wednesday, November 25th at 10am at St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church. Interment, Resurrection Cemetery with military honors. Memorials are suggested to St. Robert Bellarmine Catholic Church.
