Catherine lived a fulfilling life as sister, wife, mother grandmother and great-grandmother. Born in Rosedale, New York on April 26, 1931, Catherine grew up one of three sisters in a close-knit family. She met Joe early in their careers and he quickly grew to be the love of her life. Married on January 29, 1955 Joe and Catherine honeymooned in Mexico and built their life together. They had six children and lived in New York, New Mexico and Florida following Joe’s engineering assignments supporting the Apollo space program. Eventually they settled in Omaha, Nebraska where they finished raising their family and then retired in Sun City, Florida. She enjoyed a quiet retirement life in Florida but was excited to move back to Omaha in June, 2021 to be closer to family.
Catherine enjoyed cooking, baking and gardening. She often made apple pies from apples grown in her own backyard in New York. And she could make an awesome pot roast! She also loved embroidery, knitting and sewing, often making clothes for her children and grandchildren.
Catherine had 17 amazing grandchildren – Heather Booghier (Phil), Ryan Christensen, Joseph McFadden, Jillian McFadden, Jennifer McFadden, Jeremy McFadden, John McFadden, Jake McFadden, Nicholas McFadden, Zachary McFadden, Joshua McFadden, Kristen Powell, Andrew Powell (MacKayla), Christopher Hagenau, Brooke Hagenau, Chad Hagenau and Cory Hagenau (Stacey).
Catherine also had 5 great-grandchildren – Kory Leon, Cassidy Booghier, Ellie Booghier, Francesca Hagenau and Cara Powell.
The cornerstone of the life she built with Joe was her Catholic faith. They spent their time in retirement volunteering for the St. Vincent de Paul Society, ministering to those in need.
Catherine was surrounded by Joe and her family when she passed away on December 10, 2021.
