NIELSON, Catherine Ann (Carl), Aug 10, 1923—May 27 2009; age 85 years, of Omaha, NE. Preceded in death by parents, Coleman Josiah and Katherine “Kitty” Marie (Hanson) Carl; granddaughter, Katherine Marie Nielson; siblings: J Russell Carl, Rev J Kenneth Carl, Jim Carl. Survived by children: Jerry (Carol); Richard (Evelyn); Roger (Chris); Carla Nielson; Geoffrey; daughter-in-law, Susan Bane Nielson; 7 granddaughters; 14 grandsons; 4 great-granddaughters; 5 great-grandsons; siblings: Fallon (Dorothy) Carl , Mary (Jim) Kastl; sister-in-law, Nancy Carl; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and co-workers at Hy-Vee #10 (156th & Maple). Catherine was well known as “Grannie Annie,” “Catherine the Great,” and the “Sugar Cookie Lady” to children of all ages. Her love of children and teaching led her to be a nanny for many years. For the last 8 years she enjoyed being a customer service rep extraordinaire at Hy-Vee Store #10. She will be remembered for her humor, costumes, flare for drama, an Irish jig, and “the old soft shoe.” Memorials are suggested to Our Lady of Lourdes School Endowment Fund or Hospice House. VISITATION begins Thursday, 4pm, with VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm at the West Center Chapel. VISITATION Friday, 10am, Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church followed by MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL at 11am. Private family inurnment.
