Catherine Regina (Nownes) Schutz

December 29, 1925 – September 30, 2021

Catherine was born and grew up in Omaha.  She attended and was a baton twirler in the band at Technical High School, graduating class of 1944.  She then attended Creighton University for two years.

“Codge” and the” Old Girl” were married for over 50 years.  They raised six kids and ran a grocery store in Waterloo, NE.  They also had a great group of friends.  The “Travel Group” took many cruises and trips together and spent every New Year’s Eve celebrating at Gorat’s.

“Grams” loved watching baseball, tennis, and golf, which she learned and played with Dad.  She attended many of her grandchildren’s sporting events.  She had a full life and was loved by many.

Preceded in death by husband, William F. Schutz; son, Mark Schutz.  Survived by sons, Tim Schutz (Jan) and William “Bill” Schutz (Julie); daughters: Antoinette Condon, Theresa Meister (Ralph), and Joan Hughbanks (Scott); daughter-in-law, Pam Schutz; son-in-law, Bill Condon; ten grandchildren: Andy, Sheila, Ellen, Billy, Jen, Beth, Nick, Bridget, Michaela, and Joe; step grandchild, Dillon; eight great-grandchildren: Jackson, Drew, Grant, Charlie, Parker, Dexter, Knox, and Zoe; three step great-grandchildren: Issabelle, Brody, and Bailey; many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday, October 15th from 5pm-7pm at the West Center Chapel, followed by VIGIL SERVICE at 7pm.  MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Saturday, October 16th at 10:30am at St. Columbkille Catholic Church, 200 E. 6th Street, Papillion.  Interment: Calvary Cemetery. Memorials may be directed to a charity of your choice, or to the family for charities of their choice.

    I thank God for your long & beautiful life. Your son, Tim, is a shining example of probably many qualities you modeled as a parent. I am so sorry for your family’s loss, but expect you are in Heaven now with all the saints. Blessings & support during this difficult time.

    Rest in peace auntie. I will miss your humor and sass, but know you are happy to be reunited with family who went before you. Thank you for staying in touch after mom passed. It meant the world to me.
