MYERS, Charles C. Charlie May 31, 1934 Aug 31, 2013 Born May 31, 1934 in Davenport, IA to Minnie Louise and Albert Roy Myers. He was preceded in death by his parents and 3 siblings: Al, Betty and Pat. Survived by siblings: Maxine, Sheri, Dixie, Carl and Russ. He married Alta Romona Border on August 15, 1952. They made their home in Omaha, NE. He was the proud father of 2 daughters: Denise, of Omaha, and Brenda, of Mesa, AZ; one son, Gary, of Omaha; and his 2 yorkies, Heidi and Precious. He was a devoted grandfather Papa to 12 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. Charlie loved flying his Cessna Citation CJ3, golfing, cars including antiques, and traveling. In 1963 he formed his own company, Superior Insulation, which then changed to Superior Industries, Inc., where he served as sole shareholder, president, and Chairman of the Board. In addition, he owned and operated Freezer Services. He sold both companies in 1998. Charlie was a member of many organizations and supported numerous charities. He received an honorary Doctorate of Law from University of Dubuque in Iowa in September 1993. He was a lifetime member to the Board of University of Dubuque. He believed in and supported the University of Nebraska at Lincoln Football program. He was a member of the Directors Club of the University of Nebraska at Lincoln. The Nebraska Football Hall of Fame presented Charlie with the Clarence E. Swanson Memorial Award in September 1993. He was a lifelong member of the Masons and Tangier Shrine Temple of Omaha. Charlie and Romona were married for 61 years. In those 61 years, they traveled the world together, were surrounded by many great friends and family. He passed away August 31 at his home surrounded by his family. Charlie will be remembered by Romona as her soulmate, best friend, and a wonderful husband. The family will receive friends Tuesday, September 3rd from 5pm to 8pm at the West Center Chapel. SERVICES Wednesday, September 4th at 1pm at the West Center Chapel. Entombment, Calvary Mausoleum. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Tangier Transportation Fund for the Shriners Hospital for Children.
