Charles “Chuck” Edward Barry

Charles “Chuck” Edward Barry

August 19, 1954 – October 15, 2024

Charles Edward Barry, born August 19, 1954, in Lincoln, NE, passed away on October 15, 2024, in Omaha, NE. Known to most as “Chuck,” he was the youngest of Ralph and Madeline Barry’s two sons.

Charles will be remembered for his sense of humor, determination, and dedication to hard work.

Always willing to help people out of a bind – Charles was the type of guy people would call for help when stuck in a 4-foot snow drift on a cold Nebraska winter night.

As a young child, Charles developed a love for tinkering and had a mechanically oriented mind.  His love of cars and airplanes showed in his ability to spot and name just about anything that moved on the road or in the air. Charles could pick up and play just about any instrument and passed this passion for music onto his sons. A great salesman, he sold a variety of products and services throughout his life.  One of his favorite seasons of work was as a tour bus driver. Thousands of miles over the road allowed him to build relationships with sports teams, casts of plays and productions, musicians, tourists, and more. He continued his driving career as a transporter and shared many stories of the beautiful places and landscapes he had the opportunity to see.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Madeline, his father, Ralph, and his brother, Joe. He is survived by his sons, Cory Barry (Kristin) and Ryan Barry (Shannon) and by his partner, Karen. He will be deeply missed and forever in our hearts.

VISITATION: The family will receive visitors on Monday, October 21, 2024, from 5:00-7:00pm at Heafey-Hoffmann-Dworak-Cutler located at 7805 W Center Rd. in Omaha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are kindly suggested to Boys Town (boystown.org) in his memory.

Chuck was our driver for multiple years of Caravan’s Christmas Carol. He was such a joy and a huge part of our team. He will be missed and remembered each holiday season.

    Hello!

I am one of those lucky people that toured with Chuck! We did the National Tour of A Christmas Carol on the East Coast. I worked very closely with him as the company manager and as someone who has done many tours, he was one of my favorite drivers! I loved his sense of humor, work ethic, and love of life. He will be missed. Sincerest condolences to all.

Sorry to hear of the loss of Chuck. He was so great to us on the road, on tour. A Caravan fave, for sure! He had a gentle soul and light heart, and always made us smile. I wish your entire family peace. Please know that Chuck lit up the lives of everyone he was around, all over the country!
