Cheryl, I’m sorry that we have never met, Charlie was one of my best friends in high school. We talked occasionally and he never complained about anything. We moved to Florida in 1999 and I wish I were there right now. Our prayers are with you.

Charlie’s passing is indeed a loss. Professionally, he was known nationwide as a patient and helpful engineer. He epitomized what we strive for in our careers…old school courtesy and willingness to share and promote the knowledge gained. I had the favor of speaking with him any number of times and his graciousness spanned my so-far 28 years in the profession. He’s now with other giants of the broadcast equipment circle who have preceded him. While Charlie’s passing is our collective great loss, it’s your profound loss.. From Chicago, our deepest and sincere condolences.

Cheryl, we are so very sorry to hear about Charlie. We have known him as former neighbors, and good friends for many years, and realized how generous he was in providing many, many enjoyable times together with us. He was incredibly smart, and so interesting to be around. We enjoyed his company for many years before we moved away. Thank God, you came in to his life to be his soulmate for his remaining years. Thank you for providing him with much happiness. Our deepest sympathies are sent to you; and also, to his family. May you find much peace and comfort in your good memories with him.

I am so sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing. He was a wealth of information to his fellow broadcast engineers and a genuinely nice guy. He will be missed.

I started working with Charlie in 1978 when I joined the McMartin family. It was a friendship that would last for 40 years. May our Lord be with your family in a very special way. Charlie was my junior by 5 months. I sure will miss talking to him.

  • Mark Croom Posted August 4, 2018 12:31 pm

I was so sorry to hear of Charlie’s passing. He was one of three guys who stand out from my early days in the broadcast engineering profession as a guy who went out of his way to explain what I needed to know in order to do some task that seemed beyond my abilities. Transmitter upgrades and repairs especially seemed daunting until Charlie explained the situation so a young guy with electronics training but limited hands-on experience could understand them. My condolences to his family, Charlie will be missed in the radio engineering community for sure.

  • steve Looney Posted August 5, 2018 4:57 pm

I am shocked and so sorry to hear. I worked with Charlie at McMartin and even spoke with him just a few days before his passing. Was so looking forward to seeing him again soon. May God bless family and friends

  • Mike Shane Posted August 6, 2018 6:30 am

My condolences to the families. I regret that I didn’t know Charlie well. But he was always helpful in my business dealings with him. I recommended him to others many more times than I actually was able to take advantage of his services. I and my tube-type transmitters will miss him greatly as will my fellow engineers not only those here in Omaha but everywhere he did business.

  • Gregg Richwine, CBTE Posted August 7, 2018 9:51 am

I worked with Charlie on a couple occasions. I had to swap some equipment with him, and he drove over to my father-in-law’s house in Council Bluffs to accommodate my tight schedule while in town. He was a big assert to the broadcast industry. We offer our prayers of healing to you.

  • Allen Sherrill Posted August 7, 2018 10:26 am

I was fortunate to have become acquainted with Charlie when I worked in Omaha radio about twenty-five or so years ago. Any broadcast engineer who had to work on McMartin transmitters knew Charlie was the go-to guy for parts and a helping hand, and so much more. My condolences to Charlie’s family.

  • Mark H Voris Posted August 8, 2018 3:27 pm

We are saddened to hear of Charlie’s passing. A great Engineer and more, a great person. From all of us at Spirit Catholic Radio, our condolences and prayers to Cheryl and the rest of the family.
Eternal rest, grant unto him O Lord
and let perpetual light shine upon him.

May he rest in peace. Amen.

May his soul and the souls of all the faithful departed,
through the mercy of God, rest in peace.
    Amen.

Thoughts and Prayers to Charles E. “Charlie” Goodrich. He was the best friend any broadcaster or broadcast engineer ever could have. Always friendly, knowledgeable, and supported older McMartin broadcast equipment really well, and many other parts for vintage transmitters. A class act, and a fine gentleman. The likes of which you rarely see in life. R.I.P. Charlie! You made the world a better place, and kept many stations on the air.

  • Sally Ganem Posted August 12, 2018 12:09 am

    Cheryl,
You are in my thoughts and prayers. While your time was far too short with him, you two were loving and shared that love with those around you.. My deepest sympathy and love to you and his family, Sally and Dave
