Charles Lawrence Tremel
April 9, 1930 – December 26, 2020
Charles Lawrence Tremel, Chuck to all who knew and loved him passed away on Dec 26, 2020 at the age of 90.
Chuck was born April 9, 1930 in Panama, IA. He was the 9th of 12 children born to Anne and Joseph Tremel. Chuck spent his formative years on the family farm in Iowa, before serving his country in the Korean War from 1951-1953.
On October 6, 1962 Chuck married the love of his life, Bonnie. The couple moved to Colorado and welcomed their first son, Larry. Another son, Paul and a daughter, Susan completed their family soon thereafter. Chuck was a loving dedicated father. He passed on to his children not only a deep love of family and strong work ethic, but also his wide-ranging knowledge and confidence to fix anything. Chuck’s career as a mechanic took the family all over the country, from Colorado to California and finally to Omaha, Nebraska where he had a long career as a Head Mechanic for a construction company, retiring in 1995.
After retirement Chuck stayed busy. He had a passion for travel. One he shared with his dedicated and beloved wife, Bonnie. Together they planned yearly big adventures to places like Australia and Alaska, as well as many smaller road trips with their grandchildren. In between these trips Chuck spent hours in the workshop often joined by one of those 5 grandchildren. There he crafted doll furniture for American Girl dolls and Barbies. Delighting not only his granddaughters but all the lucky children who received the pieces he made in his and Bonnie’s years of selling them at craft fairs.
Chuck was preceded in death by his father Joseph; mother, Anne, and nine of his siblings. He is survived by his wife of 58 years, Bonnie, three children: Larry (Cristi), Paul (Terri), Susan; brothers, Ralph and Ken; five grandchildren: Sandy, Danielle, Michael, Chris, and Sarah; three great grandchildren: Peyton, Wyatt, and Konnor.
