Charles R. Johnson, Jr.
August 22, 1940 – August 5, 2024
Charles Raymond Johnson, known affectionately as Chuck, passed away on August 5th, 2024, in his hometown of Omaha, Nebraska. Born on August 22, 1940, to Louise and Charles Johnson.
Graduated from North High School before attending UNO where he received his degree in general studies and continued his education to receive a master’s degree in business administration.
Chuck had a strong work ethic and had a long and prosperous career in data processing that included IBM, Omaha State Bank and Methodist Hospital. He loved his job at Methodist as CIO. He was responsible for ushering in data processing into Methodists operations. He was proud to be a part of Methodist’s philosophy of “best care” and enjoyed sharing Methodist’s technology journey with his family.
In 1958, Chuck married his beloved wife, Patricia (Xandi) Taylor, in Omaha, Nebraska. Together, they raised three children: Charlie, Rob and Jay Johnson in Elkhorn, Nebraska. Chuck was a devoted father, known for supporting/coaching his son’s sporting activities (especially baseball) and taking the family on unforgettable summer vacations.
Chuck’s hobbies were an important part of his life. His competitive spirit, attention to detail and will to always get better were ever present in everything he did. He loved bowling, golf and racquetball. He was a 2-time ABT Bowling champion, bowled a perfect 300 game and had a hole in one were just a few of his highlights. He enjoyed the endless bowling and golf leagues that his son Rob participated in. Chuck often relived his golf or bowling games hole by hole and frame by frame with his frequent calls, lunches and dinners with his family and friends.
Chuck also loved going out to eat and enjoying a fine meal with family and friends. He was quick to offer a meal followed by a “I’ll pick you up” to seal the occasion. Later in life, he enjoyed his weekly lunches with Jay, dinners with Charlie and daily calls with Rob and the times they would all enjoy dinner together reminiscing about the past.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Patricia “Xandi” Johnson; father, Charles; mother, Louise; sister, Mary.
He is survived by his sons: Charlie (Lucy), Robert, Jay (Treya) Johnson; grandchildren: Jessica (RJ), Joey (Doria), Sarah, Lily, Katie, Myles (Perla); six great grandchildren.

My sincere condolences to the family. I work with Jay on his team and can only imagine the type of man his father was, and still is, in all of the good qualities Jay displays at work. Having lost my own father recently, there are no shoes to fill that role. We only hope we take the best from our parents and pass them along to our children as the ultimate honor to their great lives. I wish Jay the entire family a warm remembrance of all the good that his father left behind as they morn his loss.
