Charley Bacon, Sr.

Charley Bacon, Sr.

March 29, 1946 – October 28, 2022

Charley was preceded in death by his parents, Earnest and Sarah Bacon; sons, Charley Bacon, Jr. and Stephen Michael Bacon.  Survived by his wife of 55 years, Alice; many brothers and sisters-in-law; many nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends.

His profession in the retail business took him to many foreign places, including China, Taiwan, and Brazil–all of which he enjoyed.  He made friends easily everywhere he went.  Keeping in contact with all of his friends was important to him.   He enjoyed sports and collected sports memorabilia.  He was not a good listener but was a good storyteller–and he had many to tell!.  He was a good father, husband, and great friend.  We were all better off for knowing him. We will miss him and his outgoing personality.  Godspeed to “THE HIGH COMMANDER”!

VISITATION: Wednesday, Nov. 2, 5pm, with 7pm VIGIL SERVICE, at West Center Chapel. MASS OF CHRISTIAN BURIAL: Thursday, 10am, St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church. Entombment: Resurrection Mausoleum.

Alice, My experience is that one is never ready to suffer the loss of a loved one. Charley was a very good man, always looking out for his friends and family. Charley was an icon for the Prep class of’64. He will be missed; wish I could be there for his celebration of life. Charley will now be watching over you with the good Lord.

Sue and I are extremely saddened to learn Charley passed away. I had the privilege to know Charley for over fifty some years through Edison Brothers and kept in touch after we both retired. Our prayers are with you Alice over Charley’s loss. May the Lord give you strength and comfort God bless!

Charley was the friend in our class that really portrayed what real friendship is. Easy to talk to and an enjoyment to be around him…will miss that friend and a brother. Prayers and condolences to the family.

Alice so sorry to hear this. You know that both you and Charley were like parents to me. I will always think of you fondly. My parents loved you too. My deepest sympathy.
